Like I said Paul Oakenfold is a great man. ;)
Top 10 reasons:
1. He build out scene from scratch!
2. He help popularize electronic music in the US!
3. He offered people a viable alternative to what the cocksucking industry promoted here!
4. He promoted the positive message of unity through dance culture!
5. He always supported the bedroom producers!
6. He reached ground breaking record sales through his A&R and promotion skills!
7. Make no mistake he IS the reason why we are all here. Great great man!
8. His new CD is great!!!!
9. All his CDs were outstanding showcasing talent from all over the globe artists that if it was not for him would have been unsung heroes!!!
10. The people dissing him are sly busters who do not like dance music like steve dahl who hated the disco movement in the 70s. Now instead of yelling disco sucks they are yelling trance sucks! They are only here to cause confusion and division!!! Paul Oakenfold is about unity and the positive things in life!!! |

He's also into sloppy lemon parties.
Awkwardly warm hugs bumping coarse cocaine off of a tear-soaked shoulder.
Turn blue, like New Orleans. |

Paul Oakenfold’s musical career started from admirably humble beginnings, playing soul and rare groove cuts in a Covent Garden wine bar in the late ‘seventies with mate Trevor Fung. By the early ‘eighties, having decided that NYC was the place, Paul decamped there armed only with the chutzpah to blag his way into a courier’s job in West Harlem. |

At that time, more than any other, New York was bursting with musical invention: hip-hop was the freshest street sound around, and Larry Levan – arguably the first ever superstar DJ, inspiring a frenzy in the crowd that some guy playing records had never inspired before - was packing out the Paradise Garage every week with the revolutionary, hypnotic mixing style that would become the acid house DJ’s stock in trade. |

Returning to London he became the A&R man for Champion and signed the as-then unknowns Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, and Salt N’Pepa. Oh yeah, and he appeared on Blue Peter with a breakdancing crew who he was looking after at the time. |
