| Nothing beats tomorrowland. ID&T in general I have so much more respect than Insomniac.Sure they make more money but with attentance numbers now the same at near 150-200k, Insomniac I bet you wont try to catch up on production and the event grounds. They will remain as is and just add more monitors or lighting. No US event even has a proper stage design. Just trusses really. And sound is much better. EDC was good this year but it still felt american - to say it that way i guess. |

I'm pushing them to try harder.
The # of attendees does not make it better. DUDE, watch these videos and tell me Tomorrowland doesn't it make you want to go super bad!!
So lets say they sell just 100,000 tickets to EDC. That is about 8 million in profits before DJs and rent and all.
These guys make a TON of money off each event. Put a little back in! Don't defend them just cuz they book some cool artists and sell lots of tickets.
Give me several million and lets see what I can do with it!! I'd reinvest some of it in YOUR experience!!!!
I know it's not 100% fair to compare these videos, but Insomniac didn't put out a cool After-video either..... |

The biggest problem the US faces when throwing festival type events is really our own culture. We, as a country, have the population, money, and ability to throw festivals all the time everywhere; but no one wants to take chances in terms of building an interesting lineup. There's literally hundreds of dance music festivals during the summer all over the UK and Europe with what feels like more and more popping up every year.
European culture combined with the countries' sizes (maybe their proximity to one another?) must make it easier. I dunno...maybe we just stink :p |

| I think Bas and Bjorn pretty much summed up the best reasons why this could never happen in the US. |

I think you're onto something here. It is very easy and cheap to get around europe with all of the budget airlines running now days. Couple that with the fact that Europeans get much more vacation time than americans and you can easily see how more people would be able to jet-set their way over to a cool festival or three during the summer.
Another thing to think about is that the population of europe is almost three times that of the US despite the areas being about the same. |
