Sounds about right. This is taken directly from the Economic Impact Report.
"Expenditures by Insomniac in direct relation to EDC 2011 totaled $13.1 million. This amount includes a variety of expenses, including but not limited to, equipment rental, security, transportation, food and drink, and insurance. Because this report quantifies only the economy impact of the event on the local economy, we have excluded all expenditures that would most likely be spent outside of Clark County. This includes any fees paid to performers." |
Performers likely got about 7+ million
right? How many really big names were there? |

looks like there were 40-50 djs per day, not including the other performers. 7 mill would be ~45k/dj avg
e: i don't know how or if this helps, but there you go |

| So double it at least. say they pay out 20 million, Insomniac still makes about 20 million off the show.... |

errr.. they grossed $20mm best case and probably less in reality... how do you figure they netted $20mm? |

| figure 235 x 90,000=21.15 million....+ the upcharge for whoever bought VIP.....maybe 22 million.....probably netted 5 million maybe |

most tickets were sold @ $150 to $175, and the # of paid was more like 70K |

| i think they best case broke even this past year (and my best guess is they lost $)... but in the big picture considering the move to Vegas and setting the stage for future EDCs there i think they are fine. Tickets for 2012 started at what, $200 i think? so their gate should get close to $20mm next year and maybe exceed it. |

Agree. Insomniac either made a minute profit (relative to 2010) or just broke even with last year's EDC if we go by what they charged versus attendance. But the long-term strategy is definitely set for large profits with partnerships at all the major Vegas clubs set up this year and large advertising opps. |

| you guys also need to factor in all the money they made selling water, food and stuff like that. |

well water was free... remember? :)
actually what they do is just sell concession rights to outside parties instead of handing it themselves.
between VIP upgrades, table service and concessions i'm sure they took in another $1-2 million over the base ticket sales, but they still grossed a # that starts with a '1' i'm pretty sure of.
remember the supposed quoted attendance was 235,000, which is 78,333 average per night, before comps.
We know 3-day passes never went to $200+ until the last day or two before the show ran. if you want to say 72,500 tickets at $175 average (including VIP and price increaes) that's $12.7mm in sales. So $15-16mm seems pretty accurate to me. |
