zinggggg. prolly the only time ill give the guy credit

privatizing it is not the way to go. Almagamating the whole GTA is the way to go. And then replace any role that can be done by a robot....replace (toll booth ops)

Niiiiice burn...

I understand the argument behind privatizing it but when it's so hard to find any good examples of this being done with good results it's pretty hard to say yours will be the exception and work out well.

He is very sneaky! Don't let this kind of fool you Toronto! He's still a douchebag! If you've ventured downtown lately you'll notice it's nothing but condo's everywhere or condo's being built on every street corner.

Totally agree with you. The guy is 99% douche, this video is just an example of that missing 1%...

I'm glad most people in this thread see through this. So he made KPMG look stupid. Big deal. He is a conniving politician, so this isn't surprising.

Adam Vaughan is a power-hungry, big-brotherist who is sucking the life out of Toronto. This man is arguably the worst thing that has ever happened to Toronto and I can't wait for the day that he gets booted off of Council.

I personally don't like Adam Vaughan at all (although I'm indifferent about his attempts to transform the district).

Just thought this was a funny little speech thats relevant.

One thing really doesn't have anything to do with the other.

It's not just the district. This guy tried to shut down a bakery patio (Future's Bakery at Brunswick & Bloor) for being too noisy. He does not limit himself to Richmond St. clubs.

The venomous rhetoric he spits in Council about the horrors of noise pollution, and drunk people within the clubbing district is contagious, and fosters an adversarial attitude among other City Councillors towards clubs, bars, and even restaurants (i.e. any sort of drinking establishment). All it takes is one catchy quote in the newspaper by Vaughan to get the media in a frenzy about drinking establishments again, and to pander towards Vaughan's objective of creating a scare over nothing, and then "solving the problem", in order to create the image that he's "saving the city" and to get more votes.

Don't think that the anti-fun sentiment that has been growing in City Council in the past few years is restricted to establishments you don't like. These people generally don't discriminate when it comes to being more restrictive and/or shutting drinking establishments down.

The one thing that we can thank Ford for is that City Councillors have real problems to deal with at the present moment, instead of fabricated ones.
