Einstein may have been wrong about not surpassing the speed of light?

Not sure how many of you are into this type of thing, but I have always been fascinated with the idea that nothing can go faster than the speed of light. Especially the idea that the laws of the universe will actually slow down time the closer you get to the speed of light.

Well apparently they have found particles that can travel faster than the speed of light:

Pretty big implication if it's true, a lot of time travel hypothesis (for and against)is based around around this law.

There is some cool coming out of CERN and the LHC.

Thanks for sharing this! I think a lot of the geeks on here will find this interesting.

I thought, in theory, Tachyons moved faster than light.
jester
Lets see how many scientists and computers did it take to figure that out. While you had one man, drum up equations that are still used today.

If its true, so what. He set us back a few many decades. We still wouldn't be able to travel at the speed of light anyways.
Prometheus Xex
As far as we know, true. With Einstein's equation it's understood that it would take infinite energy to get matter close to or at the speed of light. We humans are very far from that, unless we can find a loophole in the theory, or at least circumnavigate these laws.

or if gas prices finally lower

then i can get my crx out of my mom's garage and reach speeds never imagined

I think going back in time is impossible, but going forward is plausible (if you can get close enough to a black hole and it doesn't kill you.

We need to build a spaceship!
