My Night:
OMG I have a great time last night. I think I got about 6 minutes of video then said it, I didn't feel like videoing. Rank1 and Mr. Morton played solid sets and was a great backdrop to all my yammering with all the ppl around me. As many of you know yesterday was my birthday and I couldn't be happier that it was a Vola. I had a great time with so many of you that it made the night fly by in a flash.
I want to thank Oz especially for his hospitality and arranging a good time with the bottle service I got (first time getting bottle service). It's funny cause there were many of us at my booth (Arnej, Morton, Kotsy etc) when some guy and a chick joined us being escorted by my buddy Jermone. I was wondering who these ppl were that were drinking my booze, but I didn't care since any friend of Jermone's is a friend of mine. He introduced us, but I didn't hear that dude's name good and politely shook his hand and kept partying. I noticed his accent and asked another person who the guy was. Turns out it was TyDI and the girl was his vocalist who's been on many of his mixes! Tyson was definitely having a good time with us and was getting stupid for my camera when my pal Richard was recording. I asked Tyson how bad his jetlag was and he hold me he was about 16 hours out of sync with the rest of us, but he seemed to be doing pretty good considering.
It was also good to see Jason waltzing in with Manzone and Strong late in the evening. Too bad you guys didn't come earlier, it would have been great for you guys to have joined us at my table! I definitely had some good laughs with you three.
All in all it was definitely a great night.

Just wanna say sorry for the technical difficulties to start my set. Was really hoping to play my vinyls I brought. 1 turntable wouldn't play, and the other only played through 1 channel. Good thing I brought a few old cd's with me or the night would have ended real early. I didn't even really know what was on the cd's I brought, so it was a very random impromptu set which worked out well I guess. |
what did I tell ya? ;) |

Great Show. Rank 1 is Stellar...he plays all the Right Tunez without even trying...Seemed like everyone was having a good time...
I was the Brown Guy with the PonyTail in the back Right side, with Brown Girl White Guy. You probably heard me Woo-ing all night.
Left at 2:30, and he was just starting to play more classics...but duty calls...
Now with SVD AVB and FERRY all in October, its going to be hard to decide which shows to go to.....
even though its obviously Ferry ;) |

After realizing this was on the same night as Antix I was hesitant as to which event I wanted to attend.
After much thought I decided to make my way down to Vola and arrived at 12:30 to hear Piet pounding out some great tunes. Bass seemed a little low at times during some of his transitions but that's just me being picky. I had intentionally planned on getting there a little late as I am not a fan of the "new" trance sound and figured he would save the best for last. He started raining down some proper classics near the end of his set and it put me in the perfect mood.
Now I know Rank 1 put on a great show but I was truly interested to see what Mr. Morton had in store for us and despite frantically trying to get the turntables working he managed to pull magic out of his bag of goodies and rectify the technical problems by simply playing on CDJ's. Opening with Adagio With Strings was fantastic and he played some great timeless classics that left me with a permanent smile on my face before parting ways around 3:40.
All in all I was thoroughly satisfied with the night and couldn't have been any happier to hear some tracks that I might not ever get to hear in a club again.
A proper closing party indeed.
Cheers to all those that were/have been involved with Vola since its inception. I have had some great times in the past (especially J00F) and am eagerly awaiting his next arrival in October at the new venue! |
