| Nice! It's been a while! |

It's listed on AM Only, so you shouldn't get into trouble for this, Dave. I was wondering when someone is going to spill the news but I guess no spilling was needed.

Oh, I'm not worried because it's indeed public. But I know I (and others) can urk people when I find the dates and post them before the promoter/club is ready itself (and since this is on a Thursday, guessing it's Torq since they are weekly now). Especially for big acts. :)
I Just said don't hate me in fun; relax peeps! |

Im sure every TA member on here thank you for your hard work and dedication scouring different Agencies booking schedules and different Artist's myspace and Fb pages etc etc in order to deliver this exciting news FIRST on TA and i'm sure it must be a very prestigious honor to be able to deliver.
However, sometimes there are reason beyond what you could possibly imagine why certain shows are not announced as the same day a agency updates their available booking calendar and sometimes Artist's makes mistake to update their myspace or FB without agency approval etc etc. There can also be ticket pricing & promotion strategies and Co-promoter options that are still in the works or even flyer approval that is being waited for etc etc. There can be a bunch of reasons why these things are this way and shows are announced later then perhaps and agency or artist do.
I congratulate you in your highly successful effort in finding this and myself together with im sure many other TA members applaud your dedication to keep us updated. Your work and time spent finding these things first is highly appreciated.
Regarding the actual show, i will announce when we are ready.
Thank you again,
Bjorn |

Bjorn -- I dunno how to respond, because I'm not used to you posting as if you are from an organization other than just a dude I know, lol. Don't talk to me that way - it just weirds me out, lol.
I think we know very well what you are saying and know it's nothing official right now, and it's why I always post the source unless it's official (and I clearly said I was guessing it was TORQ). If I don't post a source, it's normally because I accidentally forget. I originally started looking on these sites years back not because I wanted to tell everyone, but because I was constantly travelling for work or other reasons and I wanted to be sure to be around whenever I could for the DJs I wanted to see. I seriously had to make a personal schedule....that's how the original SF Party thread started (which slowly evolved into sfedm.com over the years as it changed hands)
This kind of faded the past few years but now that I'm back in SF at a new company, I'm travelling a lot again (currently in Vegas for work) and then I'm also flying down to LA a couple times a month...so I am back needing to figure out what I can do and where I'll be for events. And since I'm coming across the dates doing that, might as well share....
Anyhow, I saw this spreading on FB now and made sure to comment that the info is from the agency and it's not official and indicated anything could happen. |

supposed to be sarcastic DAVE!!!!!!!
obviously now someone reading TA posted on FB and the craziness has started before we are ready to ride the wave of the hype and follow up with proper ticketweb links and show information... don't really think thats the best way to break a show. Being prepared and ready for it on the back end, is obviously way better if you have a choice. and now thanks to this, we don't.. |

Bjorn, welcome to the Internet. :D
Don't turn me into a Steve Bartman (infamous Cubs fan) -- blame AM Only for posting the gig.
www.amonly.com/AboveBeyond
There's your guilty suspect. The agency. No fan, no forum, no one else. Blame them; there's no need get frustrated with anyone else.
The rest is in general and goes for any event getting out before the promoter or club is ready to announce..
No promoter or club can blame anyone for spreading dates they find on the Internet. What basis is there blame for? There is none; It's the Internet! If the promoter or club doesn't want the info out early, then work with the agency/booking agent/DJ/etc on holding back posting the date. AM Only can hold back from posting dates on their site - promoters have done it in the past.
It's just the how things are, and promoters/clubs can either realize this is the age we live in and go with it or get pissed off (prob at the wrong person) at it. Will getting upset change this scenario or will it prevent it from happening in the future (if an agency/DJ posts a date)? Absolutely not. So if an agency or DJ posts a date, the promoter or club should EXPECT the date to get out in the public, especially with social sites around these days. The worst thing you can do is hope it doesn't spread because you are probably only going to be disappointed.
BTW, if you aren't ready to announce it and sell tickets then don't. Do it when you ready. It's perfectly fine for hype to be built before tickets are available.
Maybe one day I will have an opportunity to work deeper within the scene where I can say it's a large part of my life (as in, it's a focus financially for me) and then shut up with posting all this stuff (there's plenty of things I'm told in confidence that I never, ever post though), but until that day comes - if ever- I will continue to help whoever whenever I can, but at the same time will also continue to be the same enthusiast and spread info I come across as a fan. |

| PS. I hate when threads turn into this subject (happens once every couple years) because it usually involves people I know (and prob consider a friend) on the promoter/club side and I don't want to do anything to urk them, but at the same time we're still fans and a fan is a fan. I just hope these people don't take anything personal, because it's anything but that. I just hope the promoter/club sees anyone who does it (whether a friend or not) as someone just spreading the joy of EDM. And I would hope the promoter/club would appreciate that above all else. |
