1) request trial, plea not guilty

2) receive notice of trial

3) request disclosure statement (officers notes on the events which lead to your ticket)

4)a) if trial occurs without you having recieved your disclosure, case is withdrawn and you win (providing you state this at your trial).

b) disclosure is recieved in mail, review for any inaccuracies on the events which occured. If nothing found, go to court hoping officer doesnt show up; if officer shows up, plea with prosecutor before trial to withdraw points to hasten trial and you will plea guilty to a lesser charge.

c) get someone else to go to court for you, if the officer doesnt show up, you win, otherwise have them adjourn the case for you. you can try to repeat this again for your next court date, but they may just force a guilty plea on you if your representative doesnt have a valid explanation for you not being there. Show up and hope the officer is not there, if officer is there request for leniency (they may not grant it this time however because you've really tried their patience).

Good luck.

alright good you paid the ticket.. your government needs all the money it can get to pay yields on those short term bonds they are selling by the truckload.

You said you went 81 in a 60. If he wanted to he could have hauled your ass in for reckless driving if he had wanted to.

what's the point of being such a dick? do you always obey all the rules? when you've gotten a speeding ticket, have people suggested this sort of thing to you?

driving fast...good times.
my first speeding ticket was 115 in a 65. i got another ticket 2 years later for something like 10 over, and that's it. i had to go to court for the first one. had the speed dropped to 19 over and reckless driving was reduced to whatever is one below that. >.<

You don’t need a lawyer for traffic offences. The major role lawyers play is they understand the various procedures of the court. Given that traffic matters are not drawn-out trials or anything, you should represent yourself. Your first port of call is to write to the issuing authority and request withdrawal of the notice. This avoids any need to go to court. I just got out of a speeding offence a couple months ago. Coz I am the awesome.

What am I saying, he uses a baby monitor and dumbwaiter system so his mom can lower down his hungry man dinners while still avoiding the smell.

Now I look back & think the same. I was 19 & dumb. Got 8 tickets in a year & was facing a suspended license.

They don't have to have video. The common argument that I've seen used is that they test and calibrate the gun first thing every morning to ensure accuracy, and keep daily documentation showing that this was done. If you contest it, they will have this documentation on file to back up the accuracy. You won't be able to get out of it, the best that you can probably hope for (depending on how that county operates) is a deferral; a reduced fine or something, depending on your past driving record.

Don't waste your time with a lawyer. Show up, admit that you did wrong. The judge will appreciate that more than some who got a lawyer just because they were speeding.

Why the did you go 81 to pass, that was your mistake. You can easily pass by only going a few over what the person is doing that you are trying to pass.

That. Seriously, what the ? :stongue:
