some software you have installed on your computer is simply causing stability issues. incompatible, outdated, etc.

Just have to walk by a Starbucks if I ever need a few reasons not to get a mac. Can't sum it up any better than this:

you don't walk around with a 27 inch iMac. need to put in a new hd. it doesn't look as difficult as I thought it would be. I'm just shopping , because I might as well upgrade. suggestions?

I have no idea about the specs of your computer, but for what it's worth - im hearing good things about mac owners upgrading to solid-state drives.

mine crashed in my imac a few weeks ago. got a 1tb western digital on newegg for 80$. make sure you have a full torx screwset. you're going to need a size 5 7 and 8 i believe and some suction cup s.
also, solid state in an imac is a waste of money since you can only have one hard drive. if you were on a macpro and could afford a SS to have your system installed on then a couple sata drives for data, and storage, then ya.
