I've been taking a design class this semester and learned quite a bit. I've developed a new respect for designers. Not as easy as it seems but holy is that bad. Really bad.

Did I say it was bad?

Yea, bad.

Jesus ing Christ, didn't mean to wreck your whole day like that. We are programmers, not designers. And this wasn't even for anything that means anything. It's for my team's email signatures.

that takes a serious deficit in aesthetic to move forward with that logo. Just brutal. A plain font with nothing else would of been much better.

What part about "internal logo" do you not understand? The thing is at the bottom of our signatures in emails. It's small enough to where you can't even tell there was embossing.

I just think it actually takes more effort to make something that bad than to make something ok. It is actually rather puzzling how some people just kinda suck. I don't know anyone that would look at that and not think it was the first musings of a toddler using some ipad app. You made a thread about this so clearly it is important. I would say you should stay clear of any decisions having to do with art or aesthetics. Not sure how you learn this stuff as it seems most people have a general sense of what is good or bad but like that example of the 2 cokes doing a 69, granted the concept could of been funny, the actual rendition was just painful. I would be utterly embarrassed as your coworker or even boss to see that sort of output.

The dude who made it is from Lebanon, blame them. :p

i'm actually more amazed. Like when victims of head trauma do weird things like display complete normal cognitive function except that they don't believe their limbs are their own. It is just fascinating i guess.

Which school did you learn art at Looney?

Seriously though, they are not artists, probably not surrounded by artists either. Unless you have people with some degree of experience around you then you are going to make poor decisions until you gain that experience. I look at the I made in Middle School/High School and compared to what I can do now and its pretty bad, but thats how talent goes.

Just outright attacking them like they are idiots who will never learn just shows you have never been in a position where your actual talent was criticized in any constructive way.

That, or you are the like 0.0001% of the worlds population that is instantly good at everything, but somehow I doubt you are that much of an idiot savant... Just an idiot.

You don't need to be an artist to know when something doesn't look right. We are bombarded constantly by professional logos that for the most part look ok so it puzzles me that someone would ostentatiously try to create a a logo , not run it past the various filters in one minds accrued by just living and noticing things and not coming to the conclusion that this is really . I mean from someone that has never done art. Like asking someone to draw a circle and they draw a square.

i'm merely expressing my fascination with aesthetically challenged individuals. Some things are just interesting. Like people that wear sandals with socks. It is a mind and you just want to understand what is going on up there.

I've never seen the big issue with this. Unless you're talking about sock-wearing sandals. That would be odd.

They probably need therapy

Obviously everyone on the planet wishes they had Looney's amazing education and design skills. I mean, who wouldn't want to act like a self-centered douchebag to anyone who doesn't meet the specified criteria to go to such fantastic educational institutions? That's something everyone should strive to be.

Oh come on people are surrounded by advertisements and marketing materials every single day. It's not some big mystery... could you see this being on television? On a product package at the supermarket? All you have to do is pay attention to whats out there

Good thing it was never meant to be on television or a product package then huh?
