yes, fighting the big crowd on the floor to get a good view sucks. however, the VIP is ALLLL the way in the back of the main floor. It isnt that crowded right in front of the VIP area(ground level). So I found that standing in front of the VIP area @ ground level still had a great view of all the lights, lasers, and of the main stage. And yes, I actually did this, b/c security stopped letting VIPs in the VIP area at like 11:30pm. 1130pm!!!!!! wtf???

Let me put it this way, the couches were inside the tent area of the VIP area, thus it was hot since heat was trapped, and you couldnt get a good view of the stage, or even hear the music as well as if you were outside the stage b/c ur looking through dirty fogged up plastic.

Now, theres a viewing deck for VIPs(in front of the tent), but there are no seats. You can sort of sit on the floor (but that is basically the same as saving hundreds of dollars and just sitting on the ground level floor (right in front of the VIP area).

I found that going to the main floor and dancing and feeling the vibes was a lot more fun that going to the VIP section. Sitting down near the main floor or just to the side, you can still feel the energy from the crowd and listen to the music a lot better.

The tented area was tented because it was Air Conditioned, tenting to keep the cold air in.

I was there during Swedish House Mafia and at the time was the most packed EDC was at any point, and I got in VIP with no issue and it wasn't crowded in there at all.

actually, i dont think inside VIP area was crowded at all any of the nights. I can actually see from the ground area that it wasnt that crowded. actually, the day my siblings and I got rejected, along with other people trying to get in, was on Saturday, but still, it wasnt that crowded.

honestly, the security was just trying to limit the amount of people getting in, which i dont think is fair. people pay 100 bucks more per day to get VIP, i think there shouldnt be any problems like that.

also, to me, it was still kind of stuffy inside, so it felt better to be outside the tent where there was a breeze.

I had VIP on Saturday and GA on Sunday. I do not think it was worth the extra cost for VIP since I am not into most of the DJs they put on the main stage and probably will not be worth it for next year if they do not make a lot of changes.

VIP good:

Bar in the enclosed area and bathrooms downstairs. The regular bars and restrooms were pretty far away from the main stage so if you wanted to get another drink or had to go to the bathroom and were in the middle of the main floor it would have been quite a trip to go and make it back. The lines for the bathrooms were not that long and the VIP area was not very crowded.

At one point the main floor was so crowded it was hard to get into that area at all so access to the VIP area was nice at that time.

VIP bad:

Like others have said, the VIP area is all the way at the back of the main stage so you can barely see the DJ although you get a good view of the whole stage. The seating is inside so you cannot really see the DJ if you want to sit down unless you want to sit down against the wall outside but then everyone is standing against the railing so you would not be able to see anything either if you were sitting down.

No open bar for VIP. Seems to be the norm now but that is what used to justify the extra cost for me.

When we were leaving the VIP area Saturday to check out other areas, there was a long line of people trying to get in. I asked the security if we left could we get back in and they said no. It was not that crowded in the VIP area so I do not know why people were not being let in. I left anyways because I wanted to check out the other stages and when I came back in a couple of hours they were letting people in again. I do not know how long people were not let inside.

There are not VIP areas for every stage (only the main stage and a separate lounge area away from all of the stages?) so unless you are really into the DJs playing on the main stage you do not get the benefit of the exclusive area or separate bathrooms.

The VIP was supposed to give you faster entrance but since there were less security staff to do the pat downs for the VIP entrance, the VIP line was actually slower. Even the security told me to use the GA line which was much faster both nights I went.

For the other questions:
Most aren't planning on getting the 3 day passes...are single day GA/VIP tickets easy to come by?
Unlike Ultra, I think single day passes were available the same time as the 3 day passes so that shouldn't be a problem unless they change something for 2012.

We may have a few gay friends who might go...is it gay friendly?
Everyone seemed to be having a good time and doing their own thing so I doubt if anyone cares if people are gay, straight, whatever.
