What strikes me the most is that John '00' Fleming didn't even make it on the list. Unbelievable! I think he's one of a few guys who plays real trance music.

There's an obvious "That's because DJ Mag voters don't listen to real trance." joke there, but I'll refrain from saying it.

...Wait a minute!

I'm actually looking forward to TA's - Top 250 poll.

Wonder how far off it'll be from DJMag. Seeing how we're all supreme aficionados to all that is EDM.

Nah, that one also gets spammed all to hell by Armin Acolytes. Just because hardly any of 'em post around here doesn't mean there ain't tons of 'em lurking in the shadows.:disbelief

Same as in any forum, maybe 5% of the visitors post regularily.

Have a look at the last few pages in the voting discussion topic. Most of these guys have October 2011 as their registraton date. They surely can't all be regular visitors and lurkers.

well come on then, enlighten us as to your superior taste.

How is it killing the scene? It has made things exciting again. I am so sick of stupid 2 min breakdowns with pianos, violins, harps, and fairy dust. But that is just my taste.

Good for a group of trance DJs to stand up and do something different. Don't diss a style of music that does not fit your tastes. Instead find a circle of DJs that do play what you like and support them.

The whole trance scene has turned into everyone bitching and putting down DJs that do not super serve your what you want to hear, instead of finding and praising the stuff you actually do like.

So I cant diss Schiltz but you can stupid 2 min breakdowns with pianos, violins, harps, and fairy dust? Im quite partial to fairy dust and deeply offended!

No, variety is the spice of life. But listening to Schulz this year I dont think he's playing much trance, 75% of it sounds like nasty electro to me. And he's not alone. I dont think its doing anything for the more purist, underground and less electro orientated scene For me its a shame, I loved Schulz work until the last 18 months.

As for 'a group of trance DJs to stand up and do something different', what are they doing that is different? Armin, Schulz, Emery, SHM, etal are all playing a similar style. Bandwagon jumping is the phrase that springs to mind.
