Anybody who graduated high school after the year 2003 and has a college degree is stuck working a job with their degree. I know of at least 15 people who have had their college degree for over 2 years and have yet to find a real 9-5 white collar job. I'm talking guys with degrees in engineering, accounting, business, etc. Then there are those who I went to high school with that have their masters degrees and nobody is willing to hire them because they are deemed over qualified.
There will be a revolution soon, it's only a matter of time. People are sick and tired of playing the corporate game |

Just because you have a college degree doesn't guarantee you work right out of school. You still have to prove to a company why they should hire you over the next guy. Because of this, sometimes you have to take the jobs before the real ones happen. It's been like that for years. Think about it. Lets say someone is looking to become a full time doctor, how long do you think most of them have to intern, or become the resident bitch before they move up the ranks? Everyone has to pay their dues. My first studio internship consisted of cleaning toilets, vacuuming carpets, running for food, run errands, and whatever else for no pay. It was like that for about a year until they gave me a shot as an assistant engineer. Just keep fighting, show them you want it.
Not trying to rain on your parade here, but the problem I see with this movement is there's no established leader and no clean cut description of what you're protesting. How do you think those you are protesting are gonna take you seriously. I mean, if it's about wall street, or corporate greed, then that's what everyone should be protesting. Don't bring in the war crap, or any other crap that doesn't pertain. Stick to one issue first. I saw the one in Long Beach and I actually had to stop and laugh. Every protest sign had some other form of issue on it. I think I saw one about Micheal Jackson's doctor trial. Here's something to think about. This government has a hard enough time figuring out one issue, now you want to throw twenty more on them.
Hopefully your movement has DC on the list, because they're part of all the problems too. Wall street, corporations, banks, government are all best friends. |

It’s all about who you know and what you have to back up what you say you can do. There are some jobs out there that will throw your resume out the second they look at it if you don't at least have a bachelor. And to be honest, these days you have to get a masters if you're doing the college route.
I do not agree with a bunch of poor people complaining and blaming other people for the reason that their lives suck. They have the same opportunity as everyone else; they just did not make the right choices through life. It is as simple as that.
Giant corporations that need to pay the proper taxes, that is easily agreeable. However, the rest of these ing idiots can maybe start by moving out of the most expensive areas to live or rent, and stop getting a mortgage on houses they can't afford, that is out of their pay grades. In addition, just get an average entry-level job that is decent enough to pay the bills and live. You can work up from there. It is definitely a lot better than sitting in some park like a ing bum. |

They didn't make the right choices?
You act is if how people were raised and the society they lived in was their choice. You are absolutely naive if you think it's as simple as and as shallow as you try to make it out to be.
In the field and industry I work in, I pretty much have little choice but to be in the SF Bay Area. There's literally one major outlet outside the area. But I'm willing to sacrifice a bit to live smaller to actually have a job that I know I enjoy.
Do you think most people have the money to just pick up and move? I'm not sure if it's news to you, but most companies, because of the economy, stopped offering relocation of new hires. And most people just don't have the money to pick up and move on their own.
WIth mortages, not sure if you're blind still, but one of the biggest issues was the banks/mortgage companies did a fine job of sweet talking peope into thinking they could afford it. And they approved far too many loans where they should've the buyer could afford it. PEOPLE WHO WORK AT THOSE COMPANIES HAVE DEGREES AND/OR TRAINED TO KNOW THIS STUFF. These people should have a better idea of what we can afford and not than we do ourselves...thaey are the wizzes.
Did you know there companies who won't look at you if you currently don't have a job? I was shocked to see how many companies make it a pre-requisite. Other companies said you had to have a job within the last 30 or 60 days. From small to large companies, in this economy! That's holding back this economy. There are other companies who do credit checks STANDARD for positions where credit checks indicate nothing about their ability - like wokring the phones for customer service. Want to argue that it indicates responsibility? Don't even try because that's the f'n lamest defense ever. I know plenty of good, honest, hard working people whose credit is f'd now because he/she lost his job or are he/she and their other half lost their job close to each other and overly f'd them. |

And everything you just said was a perfect example of poor choices you made. You choose to take a job that only has a major opportunity in San Fransisco (One of the highest rent in the US) and you choose to take that mortgage. Everything is your own fault. Thanks for being a perfect example and proving my point. |

To be honest David, some people didn't make the right choices and now want others to coddle them. I only said some, not all. I have a few friends that fit this image as they are the type who would rather live the way they do now and let society take care them. This right here I have a problem with. It's called laziness. I can't imagine anyone wanting to pay for someone to be lazy.
As far as the housing market goes, I do agree with you on some of what you posted David. However, I would also like to point out that it really doesn't take a genius to figure out a scam. Here's the biggest one. 0 down on a will say a $600,000 house with a variable rate. Seriously does that sound right to you? How can you buy something at that cost without any money down and with a rate that can jump at any time. Banks, and lenders are a lot like the slot machines in Vegas. The shiny blinking lights, the scrolling dollar signs are more than enough to sucker in some mark. The blinking lights are the banks, and the scrolling dollar signs are the lenders. Some other issues with the housing market, too many people trying to buy too many properties using the equity of one of their other properties which degrades the other property by putting its value into the hole, or attempting to buy in an area they can't afford. When I bought my place, I based the mortgage on one income. Even though myself and my girlfriend have jobs, I didn't include her income. Which by the way she makes more than I do. But for me, it was a way of figuring out what we could afford without bursting our bank accounts and retain some type of cushion.
As for the companies not hiring people without jobs? Yeah that is bs. I haven't figured out why these companies do that.
One of the problems I see, especially in California is the ever growing list of restrictions our state government places on them. That alone isn't good business and it doesn't help those who work in those businesses. Honestly I feel the restrictions are doing the working class a more injustice than to the corporations because the corporations can pick up and leave, or farm out the jobs to a third world country, and in turn screw us. |

Doctors get paid while interning, I've worked first hand with them in the operating room and can verify this. I ask what degree you have? My cousins were getting hired in firms making 50k before even finishing school, so don't give me that bull you have to market yourself. Prospective employers were out at colleges recruiting people left and right back in the beginning of the 2000s. If you had some bull degree like history (which from the sound of how stupid you are, you probably do) then of course you are stuck scrubbing toilets |

First off, I don't have a degree and I started working in studios right after high school and I have made a great career in the studios which led me to working for the largest sound reinforcement company in the world. I got those gigs because I worked for it. Maybe your cousins got those jobs because they hustled for them and didn't sit on some couch and let the firms come to them. Quite honestly you're the one who sounds stupid. All I'm giving you is some advice. Take it for what it's worth. Did you just graduate high school or something? Do you think your smarter than someone who's been in the workforce longer than you've been alive? |

I was an OR nurse for 2 years and now about to get my degree in accounting after next semester, and if you knew me, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be trying to engage in a battle of intellect. I don't need your advice, I'm pretty sure I can handle myself. My cousins didn't go out and hustle anyone. They were approached in their business classes by different firm representatives who offered them a salaried job as long as they would work full time and graduate by the end of the school year. My cousins always tell me how easy it was back then, they would know since they actually experienced it. For the record, unless you are in your late 40s/ early 50s you haven't been in the workforce longer than I've been alive. And if you are in your late 40s, get off my lawn |

Then you shouldn't have a problem getting a job then. So why bitch about it. Oh and FYI, I'm 37 and have been working since 14. Battle of intellect??? Are we in debate class now. |
