I'm a Jew and I'm against the strike on Iran. I was also appalled at civilians being killed in Lebanon, although Hamas wasn't too shy about targeting civilians intentionally.
Also, refresh my memory who flew the planes into WTC, beheads infidels on regular basis, kills people because they chose to believe in some other invisible diety, who firebombs a satirical magazine because they made fun of Mohammed, beats women who disobey their masters or stones those that get raped... and generally live by barbaric 13th century customs?

Based on some interactions with Iranians on di.fm, many in Iran are not as backward savagely as media would have you believe. A lot of them are well educated and moderate people, trapped in a country run by bunch of idiots, hellbent on trolling the out of the global community. I feel sorry for many that were brainwashed into hatred. I think if we as humans got to respect each other, leave others be - this would seize to exist in less than a century. Just look at Japan, Germany, Italy.
Take away the threats and guns can be laid down... But there's a lot of money to be made on status quo and too many worthless mouthpiece idiots would be out of the job. So, let's continue to keep population in check and populace in fear by creating tension... Jobs people... Jobs... And oil.

It's a very tricky situation all the way around. I see it as kind of similar to pockets of Native Americans as colonial British started expanding their land across the US. The only difference is that Israel most likely has the more advanced weapons and better trained soldiers. The problem is that they're essentially completely isolated from the rest of the world (or at least the parts that would actually help).
It's tough because on one hand, it seems as if the only way for them to come to a peaceful arrangement with Arab leaders would be to make further concessions regarding land and so forth, but then that starts the slippery slope of appeasing a "bully."
I don't think this situation will ever really come to a peaceful end, because both the geographic proximity and staunch religious differences make it almost impossible to have peace between the two sides. It's kind of like Northern Ireland and The Rep. of Ireland, except in their case, they're far less radical, and far less radically fundamentalist within their respective religions.
I just can't really think of any possible way that this whole situation could end without some sort of war, and it's unfortunate because the Israelis going to war would undoubtedly drag its "allies" into it as well, which then would cause even more turmoil in the reason.
No win situation, imo. |

If Israel does swing the first punch anytime soon, s gonna get really ugly, really fast. For a country surrounded, it would seem like suicide if they did go that far, regardless of their past history repelling attacks |
