...easier to divide by 10 and multiply by 2 :)

Meanwhile, in other parts of the world, waiters actually get paid a decent wage.

Yup, beat me to it.

People still tip over here sometimes, mind you, but it's certainly not expected.

Actually, I'm always astonished by abusive customers; particularly when there is a degree of trust implied by the nature of the relationship. I've heard about people putting eye-drops in food and I've seen food, in restaurants I've worked in, hit the floor before it got plated. When I worked in a copy-shop, there was this tool who walked in and started berating the help for not being able to find his order, quickly enough.

In spite of the fact that this guy didn't have his claim tag, the employee eventually found the order, but he continued berating her for being stupid and letting her know that if she were his employee, she'd be fired. I kept a copy of his order which turned out to be his resume - and not a very good one. It had everything except his driver's license and social security on there. It had his home and cell phone, street address, etc. and I always used to contemplate putting it up on Craigslist. I never actually did anything with it but, I did know someone who did, with someone else's.

It was a realtor who had a VIP relationship with the company. She comes in and s all over the place and wound up pushing the guy too far. She had a bunch of sale information flyers printed for houses she was selling. They're the paper you find in some of the slots by the FOR SALE signs. It was raining that night and, after work, this guy went and removed the flyers she'd just printed out, directly from the properties she was trying to sell, and threw them on the wet pavement.

:haha: man he really showed her!

i agree with what someone said before - don't around with your regular customers like that. so the lady was a bitch? if she has 'vip status' i guess that means she must spend a lot of money there? she's doing her part to keep your employers in business, and likely had been doing so for some time. she had probably come to expect a certain level of service from that establishment and was perturbed at not receiving it.

I read a lot of these stories on Reddit and everytime I do I see tons of downvotes when someone says people should tip.its odd to me because Reddit seems like it would have a lot of college people on it who have had or have a job that requires making a living on tips so they would be more understanding .but nope.

i always explain that if people dont think their food/drink/silverware etc doesent get messed with they are mistaken.as someone who has dated my fair share of waitresses and bartenders i can tell you IT TOTALLY DOES.

is it wrong? not to me it isnt but it seems im in the minority.

what say you? have you or someone you know messed with someones food or something else because the person was rude/bad tipper/etc? im curious to see how often it happens.

oh and you non tipping pizza delivery ordering people should take note as well.my friend who delivered pizzas had a sharp piece of coat hanger he kept for what he called constant non tippers.he said he only used it in extreme circumstances for customers who were rude or just never tipped.

the origin of the hanger was he would always deliver to a rich guys house with a ton of food every week and the guy never tipped.so finally he walked down the driveway and gave the the guys car a long swipe with the coat hanger at the back end of the car.

it was winter and after a week of snowing and salting he gets called out to deliver to the guy again.he looks at the car and sees its already got rust stains on it.he said after that he felt fine not getting a tip.

wrong? yep. did i care? nope.

What a ing crock. Its not my job to subsidise the costs of labour. Your friend is a cockhead. People already pay more to have their pizza delivered. If he’s unhappy about his ty jew wage then he should get a real job. ing service staff, think they’re special and different to all other workers.

That's the rub. She's getting discounts that all but erase any tangible benefit to the employee and the employee isn't losing anything by drenching her work. It's part of a business arrangement FedExKinkos had made with ReMax. Any realty agent from ReMax could come in and get 70%+ off on pretty much any order, they make - Hence - VIP. At regular pricing, given good sales and good customer satisfaction reports, a portion of the earnings actually got paid to monthly bonuses. ReMax revenue didn't constitute those bonuses.

In a restaurant I worked in, there was a customer who would always, always, always complain. She was a regular, would come in with her husband, and, as though she were wired to find something wrong with any number of possible variables - ranging from food quality to levels of service - would find something not quite up to par. As regulars go, she was definitely a repeat customer but after the twentieth time of having to sit through another hectoring tirade, the owner told her to hit the bricks. They might be regular customers but when they come in and detract from either the level of service other customers receive or the atmosphere of the dining room, they're unending -magnets and, as customers go, they need to be fired.

Whenever I get lousy service I still leave a tip, smothered in boogers.
