Wicked night. It was a reunion. Loved the energy in the room. It was my first time seeing Carl Cox. I made a bad choice of footwear and had to call it a night early around 4.

id love to write a proper review for this party......but i dont remember much. Dont think ive had a blast like this in Toronto in a longgggg time. At least I have 25mins of sloppy videos to watch from my phone :nervous:

i love how this party pulled out tons of people from retirement!

Every little glitch from the previous party has been fixed. Absolutely flawless party!

is it me on the crowd was quite a bit smaller than the luciano party?

Who next for the venue? Sven plzzzzz :)

AWESOME PARTY!!!! CARL COX KILLED!!!

only thing i could think of was the lighting. Too bright in the venue should have been darker but good times nonetheless =)

My body is still hurting.

Got there around 12 and cox didnt' come on till about 1ish? drink tickets kinda steep but whatever... I was there to dance!

lights didn't really bother me too much but there were times when it was just dark so that didn't matter too much.

missed the b2b w/sneak but glad I made it out and danced my arse off!

10/10 !

Unbelievable night!!!

Cox is such a legend. Fantastic set, start to finish. The guy never disappoints.

And great crowd. Great vibes. Well organized. Staff were upbeat and friendly.

Please throw more parties like this!

Not too often though, better to do it once every 1-2 months and you'll build up a good following.

The set and setting really piqued my interest. Warehouse party? Carnival theme? Hot damn. I've been listening to Carl Cox since I was 12, one of the DJs I started actually listening to specifically. Despite the fact, I haven't yet been able to get me some Cox and this time was out of town or would have been there in a heartbeat. The combo with DJ Sneak seemed pretty wintacular. (I did go out in Montreal though, Lee Foss was great! I realize it's totally not the same - yet a fine time nonetheless.)

Good to see reviews (above & below) + video... thanks for posting

My review: This is my first time seeing Carl Cox in Toronto, although I've seen him at Ultra Music Festival the last three years (which basically got me into techno  ).

VENUE: 8/10.
Having a large place other than Guv is great. Especially since I live in North York. For washrooms, I only used the portopotties outside which were always available, clean, with water stations to wash up after. Perfect. Indoor temperature was perfect, no excess heat, which made dancing very comfortable.

Decor and lighting: Lighting was minimal, which is fine, especially for techno events. However, since the whole place is white, white ceilings, floors, walls, the place seemed really bright. I regretted not bringing sunglasses that probably could've made things a little more immersive. Also, since the dancefloor was a sectioned off portion of this large hall, with a lot of space in the back, the place still felt "small", which felt odd since I always associate Cox's sound to own huge spaces (Ultra).

SOUND: 8/10.
Sound was very good. The loudness and quality fades fast the further you are away, but there was plenty of space to dance relatively close to the DJ/Speakers. I had to pick and choose sweet spots to get the perfect balance of bass, and highs, but I was relatively satisfied. I'm glad the bass didn't have an annoying "vibration" like it does at Guv, which is fine for a simple kick drum, but really kills rolling techno bassline sound quality (I wish guv would upgrade their sound already). Compared to Ultra, it wasn't as satisfying sound wise when Carl dropped the bass, but still good.

CROWD: 10/10.
Crowd was GREAT! A good mix of old and young, everyone friendly. Best of all, there was plenty of space to dance.

MUSIC: 9/10.
Sneak opening was fine, did the job. Carl was GREAT, as always! Played the most "techno" I've ever heard from him. Man is he talented. I caught the first 15 mins of B2B with Sneak, and was really impressed with Sneak, and the newfound energy he injected into the place.

CONCLUSION:
Very good party, and I look forward to the next event. I'll have to bring some glasses next time to be more immersed. Very promising to have parties like this reappearing Toronto, and I look forward to seeing them grow in popularity and quality. That being said, seeing Cox at Ultra (and probably Ibiza) is the best way to see him. There is something about seeing him in that spaceship, controlling a crowd of 10k+, with great sound and lighting. The vibe in there is unparalleled, and I highly suggest fans to see him there.

Where is that thread where people were calling Carl washed up last?

As mentioned prior, Carl played a sound that fit the room and it was refreshing. This was one awesome party! :D

Agreed. Connected was my first big rave and this took me back a bit.

had a wicked time... everyone i spoke to agreed that the sound was much improved from halloween. it definitely didn't sound great at the back or when i went towards the washrooms but no big deal, it's obviously not an easy room to deal with sound-wise.

drinks were expensive - already said

lighting could be improved - already said

pretty good crowd as well i have to say. easy to move around and a minimal amount of aggressive juiceheads. i just went with my gf and endlesswave figuring there would be lots of familiar faces and there were even more than expected so that was great.

i wish there was a bit more seating because my legs were definitely failing me... i know they're trying to sell booths but i don't think some extra seating would hurt bottle sales. the room is big enough to allow for a chill-out area. on that note, i did like how the room was shaped with the pipe-and-drape.

excited to see who's next to be booked there, and i imagine the good reviews from this jam will lead to a lot more attendees next time. i remember looking around the room and thinking there couldn't be 2000 people there. maybe 2000 through the doors in total. it's hard to tell though because the room is just so big, even with some large parts sectioned off.

oh yeah, and cox killed it. already said x100000 hahaha. hope my vids came out ok, i took 2 clips that were probably 8 minutes each so i'll post them if they're good. carl never stopped moving - dancing and mixing and just loving every second of it. i thought he was good at halloween last year but it was obvious that this venue suited him a lot better. i hope it's that way for future bookings too because it's seemed to me lately that these guys don't take a lot of risks when they play guv, leading to a lot of recent disappointment or "meh" at best.

to re-iterate, this was an excellent event :D

One of the best parties I have been to in years. It is nice to see warehouse settings like this again. A few things I haven't seen mentioned so far that really helped make it what it was...

The layout for the drinks/bar was great, the lineups were not very long to non existent, keeps more people dancing instead of standing in lineups, well done! The coat check was also very well run, friendly, easy to get your coat for frequent smoke breaks and fast so you could be back inside dancing again instead of waiting in lineups! Again the washrooms rarely had a lineup and if there was it was short. We showed up at about 12:30 ish and walked right in, no waiting in cold lineups again!

The heated wide entrance hallways were great leading into the event and through to the main area, you never felt crammed or claustrophobic and there was fresh air. The event was very well laid out overall with lots of space, this makes all the difference in the world. I believe when people can have room to breathe it promotes a bit more of a harmonious atmosphere.

Carl Cox killed it I haven't rushed like that in years, definitely had some back to the future moments that felt like the late 90's. The crowd was great, it made our night to see old friends we used to party with over a decade ago and got to do it all again, good vibes all around.

Oh and whoever posted the track list you missed one and I am surprised no one has mentioned it... Carl Cox dropped a very nice mix of PLASTIC DREAMS!!! I have a video of it I may get around to posting.

Great job Carnivale, and thanks!
