Saweet did you want to go ahead and take the lead on the project from here? I can help out with venue leads and general info etc.. but I'm afraid that's all I'd really have time for at the moment.

I sent you a message about it. In the interest of the prosperity of our new young promotion company, I'd say we should have a team. If Zee is up for it, I'd love to work with her. Anyone else who is willing to volunteer their efforts, please say something!

I personally don't care if I ever see a dime of profit; I just want to see the true EDM scene prosper.

Oh trust me nobody makes money - you just don't want to lose it lol :D The hardest part of this I think will really be figuring out a way to organize a member / payment process and to get people to commit to it in advance. Throwing the shows should be relatively easy if we can figure that part out - and on that end the more suggestions from everyone the better.

Yea, I can help. I can also get RVL pretty much anytime I want (with enough advanced notice) so if that's the venue you want to use just let me know ;)

Come by Friday and we can chat more about this in person.

I'm most likely going to be there Friday, so that sounds good.

Count me in if you need any help :) Trance is hardly my thing nowadays but I'm willing to contribute to the collective effort.

well, the idea got thrown around in the 'message to promoters thread' about booking j00f but i figure it's a good idea to get a real thread based on the concept that started there going.

on paper the concept is pretty simple: get a group of people willing to pool together the money to book some artists. so i guess it all starts here. before anyone can take this idea any further, we need to know who will realistically participate.

if we were able to get a membership number of ~50 people, we could all pitch in ~30 for a party that costs 1500 (travel, lodging, advertisement, whatever miscellaneous expenses). or, having a reoccurring membership fee where all the finances are pooled into one useable fund. obviously with those figures we're not talking about booking Skrillex for the next meadowlands show. this isn't about competing with the major promoters here in the city or becoming the next big NYC booking agency.

in my own personal opinion, i think if there were enough people legitimately interested in doing something like this, the best bet would to be a test run where the costs are split among the members and then afterwards figuring out the next steps. it would more than likely need to spread beyond the TA forums and hopefully we all know a handful of people who would also be down to pool some money to get a variety of talent in new york.

if i had to imagine HOW this would work, here's the layout I have running through my head:

1. Members join up and agree to participate by paying their share in future parties
2. Members submit potential booking ideas to be consolidated into a singular poll for everybody in the group to vote on
3. Top voted talents are then contacted, and estimated costs are received
4. Based on estimated costs and # of members, the most realistic talent is chosen and members pool costs together

lets hear your thoughts, and speak up if you'd be down for something like this

this is for people who want a say in who they're seeing and want to participate in a community effort to bring a variety of talent to nyc.

Also, collecting money ahead of time ensures there are actually the funds and the interest to book DJs. Relying on covers is risky. I think mitigating risk (to promoters) was one of the reasons this idea came up in the first place.

I can't organize or make decisions for , just tell me where to throw my wads of cash* around.

not to mention, if done properly a huge chunk of the networking would be done in advance. i'm sure anyone who's investing in it would want to spread the word as much as possible.

as for the organization of these efforts, i'm sure once the interest is generated and we have a set number of people willing to participate that getting it together wouldn't be too hard. so long as everyone fully understands the concept and doesn't flake.
