Could you guys suggest a good pair of monitors for home usage. Either from moogaudio or some other website?

For just general listening?

6 inch KRKs are perfect imo, I have the RP8 and they are too much.

General listen, home djing. I'll be getting myself traktor s2 for mixing, dunno if it helps your suggestions.

KRK's are a good bet.

KRK's are ok for DJing, but not for producing..

KRK rokit. I have them in white they look slick. Moog often has them on sale. Wait for boxing day if they are not already on sale.

if it's just for listening and djing, the krk's should suffice.

i find the on the krks the highs are a bit overstated and fatiguing... make them annoying for focused listening for long periods of time
i would check out the behringer truth series or some of the m-audio
until you hear each speaker you wont understand what you like anyways
i have the mackie hr824, they are cherised! |

I'm absolutely content with my JBL LSR2325.
Got them from Moog. I stood there for a long time comparing them with KRKs and they are *far* better. I also found them better than Fostex PM0.4 (which was not bad for it's size but dull on the bass) and the Alesis Monitor One (which made tracks sound 'bigger' mostly because it was a little overeager on the highs).
Bring your tracks to the store and you'll be able to hear them there and compare speakers (take note of any special eq settings on your iPod or whatever, you may have set those so that it sounds good in earbuds).
Before going to the store I spent a fair bit of time perusing audio nerd forums and while the JBLs aren't the most talked about because they're _relatively_ new, as far as I've seen no one's had a bad thing to say. Happy medium in terms of price and accuracy/comfort of sound.
I love 'em, and they look good too. Only go for the KRKs over these if it's a price issue.
Happy listening! |

KRK Rockit 6. Definetly the best monitors for the buck when it comes to producing, no idea about DJing. Low end isnt terrible and they are damn cheap. WIsh I had started on those instead of Maudio bx8a, whatever you do, stay far away from those.
