Something just hit me some time ago. In Europe, there's a major difference in price at the movie theaters, depending on the country. In Scandinavia, the price for a regular movie (A Dangerous Method, as an example) is about 14.86$ while in Eastern Europe, the same movie is about 4.31$. With this, I might add that the cinemas in Eastern Europe are far more elegant and comfortable than the ones in Scandinavia, from my personal experience.
So, how much does a ticket cost in your area? Would be interesting to know. |
more like around 6 dollars + for 3d, and avarage salary for scandinavia is probably 4x the avarge salary in eastern europe, so it's kind of retarded to compare the two |

Depends on which cinema I go to.
There's an independent group here in Brisbane, if I go in the day on a weekday, it's only $7 or something. At night/weekends, it's about $10 I think. And they're awesome.
At the big chain cinemas, it's $16+ for a 2D film, $19+ for 3D, so I never bother with them. Popcorn is ing $10 or something too - Much cheaper (like half the price) at the independent places. |

Ironically, Eastern Europeans got much more money than Scandinavians. Only that it doesn't show anywhere.
I've never studied economics and while I'm well aware of that fact, why is it so? Just because someone makes more money, they should be charged more for the same service? Why isn't an iPhone 200€ in Eastern Europe and 600€ in Scandinavia? |

Taxes, that contribute to medical/welfare/heaps of other [quality of life] stuff.
Same reason a six pack of Heineken costs me $15+ here, but only $8 in the USA. Ask me how much a pack of cigs costs here, lol.
Edit: With mobile phones, there's even more to it. High set-up costs with only a minimal amount of people paying for the service, due to a small population (same as Australia). |

All of this doesn't apply to cinema-tickets? Seems a bit weird. |
