whatever drug you try first is the lead in or gateway drug. if people enjoy a somewhat altered perception their first time and then want to delve further, the drug that helped them make that realization is almost irrelevant.
cannabis gets a bad rap because it us the most easily accessible illicit substance.

for the lurkers reading this thread who are curious about drugs, if you're reckless/easily addicted to legal stuff, other drugs, etc, just be careful. When you start dabbling in harder stuff the consequences may be more dire.
Drugs can be particularly bad to those with addictive tendancies, imo.
