Festival flyers look like such a graphic design nightmare these days... everyone has a tacky logo and nothing flows together. The marketers win again!
Then again, it might not be bad advice if you wanna be serious:

It seems to be all the rage these days. Complete nobody/noob dj's coming out with custom fonts/logos for their name.
When will this incessant branding end??? |
Who the cares? |

It's used for everything. And it's apparent the last 5-10 years that it has become the DEFAULT font for any design problem being proposed.
I love the font, its beautiful, timeless, modern (usually the reason why people use it), its thicks and thins are pretty much perfect and it has an unbelievable amount of uses for many things and for that reason, I cannot use it in a single piece of work I'd like to produce for personal or school.
That's just my opinion if people would like to use it then that's up to them. There isn't much thinking involved in using it. I do however think that is can be used incorrectly. You can see that in the new branding for The Gap and see what I mean. I looks more 'discounted' or undervalued than it used to be. It looks used in a similar way as Fido, and Fido used.... oh wait a minute...
I could go on and on but I don't want to sound bitter like I just broke up with my girlfriend. |
Haha no worries about sounding bitter, I totally get what your saying. Have you seen the doc "helvetica"? |

| Anyone who hasn't noticed this out of control form of branding is blind. |

You would be absolutely foolish not to establish a branding if you expect to see your name frequently in print media.
Hell, even I have a press kit. :stongue: |

Ya I did, it was the same director as Objectified which is another good documentary I recommend watching based on haptic objects that we interact with on a daily basis. |

First it was crazy art.
Then it was the DJ's face.
Then it was the DJ dressed up.
Now it is a logo and font.
Its just the evolution of trying to be memorable in music that can so easily be faceless. |

I was just thinking, did you actually register your trademark with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office? |
