I was just thinking, did you actually register your trademark with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office? |

First it was crazy art.
Then it was the DJ's face.
Then it was the DJ dressed up.
Now it is a logo and font.
Its just the evolution of trying to be memorable in music that can so easily be faceless. |
Yep. But I say the music should speak for itself and screw the rest. But in this day and age that's next to impossible. |

Whats wrong with a little branding?
DJ's are selling their product and love it or hate it, image is everything! |

Don't get me wrong...I'm not saying its right.....
you cannot deny the strong marketing works. Unfortunately in some cases it distracts from the actual product on offer. |

As long as the font is legible and isn't a blatant ripoff of another DJ/artist then it should be encouraged -- especially in our digital media world.
Sometimes the DJ 'custom typefont' is confusing as all hell, example:

Regardless of who the Dj/band is. Branding is everything in this global world. That being said if you are going to brand yourself make sure you get it done professionally by someone who knows what they are doing. Not some random dude who knows how to use programs. Branding/Design is a commodity people think they can skimp on, but it's not. They'd rather get their cousin who "knows" photoshop to make something for them and then wonder why people forget about their business or etc.
When I visit a webpage or store and it looks like it was made by a high schooler in the late 90's, I immediately think one of two things: A) They don't care enough about their image to pay a little more for quality work or B) They are as unprofessional as their website/brand. |

| nothing wrong with good branding.. but just as the user above me stated, if you're going to cheap out on branding and think that it'll get you anywhere, you are mistaken! |
