| everything which has actually happened can never un-happen and is therefore the truth. |

But what if it's at night? The truth is there is no sky =) Naturally, I suspect you're being facetious.

I don't think there is any one answer to that so the truth lies somewhere in a myriad of subjective answers.
|
ain't that the truth. :clown:

The pudding tastes good to you and bad to them. But the actual taste is the same between you both. That's a simple fact. The question of good or bad taste is subjective and there is no truth to it. Just opinion.

The Truth is that they both ate pudding.

Yes, but that's a fact, not truth. ;D |

Sky blue by day, black by night. Dummy. :p

| truth is a pre-requisite for existence. sorry if one of those hippy TA philosophers have already pointed that out. |

The sky is only blue (or actually blue-white because of impurities and irregularities) in relatively nice weather. But you see that's a relative statement and therefore not even the truth.
The truth about photons behaving at the quantum level is only true for 2011. In 2031 it will be an entirely different truth. I guarantee it.
But I'm a liar because there really is no truth at all.
Except for deadmau5! There is ALWAYS truth in deadmau5 music.
No wait, that was last year. Dammit. |

Truth and fact are basically synonymous. |

And is that the basis for confusion on "Does truth exist?" Somehow thinking that truth MUST be differentiated from fact? Truth is fact, but fact usually seems more tangible or tactical, as with a singular concrete object ... I have a car ... whereas truth must be thought of as something less substantial, more grand, maybe even a godly thing. Relatively speaking.
But just be clear after all that, I totally agree with the simple truth of your statement. |

Not so - A fact is something that exists, or is observed in reality. And as such, 'facts' are objective more so than they are subjective; verifiable by the senses, measurable data.
'Truth' would be better described as the [perceived] pure state of a given matter, might it be an individual, a certain place, thing or happenstance. It is as subjective as one's experiences and the measure thereof. If one believes that something is true, then it is true. |

One might assume 'absolutely' but there isn't enough processing power on the planet, or perhaps our current reality to consider such a thing. To know absolute truth one would have to account for not only this universe, but the universe from which it blossomed from, moreover, the infinitude of universes which arise as we speak (assuming white dwarfs pop off fairly often in the seas of the Abyss) - chasing perfection is a timeless goal, which we are all apart of. Yet, for the moment, the absolute relative truth is: we are in the COR, and no one gives a flying . :wtf: |

I like that, another speculative term
what about something that is beyond a.r. truth (but don't tell me it's lies) |
