Deservedly so.

Congrats!

Congrats Eco!

I think your set will be the only time I step into the ASOT tent...pretty underwhelmed by the presumed line-up in there.

Where's Ummet, Tyas, Orjan, JOC, Cosmic Gate, and more...? Hoping there's more to come with Phase 2.

I figured I would start a thread on Ultra / Winter Music Concerence / Miami Music Week as I will be going there in March - n00b style! Plan is to fly down prob Tuesday and spend the week there with some mates. Not much of a plan yet :) Been in South Beach many times, but never for this.

Going to try and find a place in south beach as base of operations..

Who else is headed down?

Got any tips to share?

Day 1 & 2 are horrible.

Day 3 is amazing.

Eco, Jochen Miller, Digweed, Corsten, Emery, Sander van Doorn, Lawler, Schossow... and Knife Party is alright too (for some reason, the dudes from Pendulum know how to make a genre* of music I can't stand sound pretty good).

And grats Eco! Excited for you!

*terrible cheesy pseudo-electro house.

My recommendations regarding Miami are the following;

#1. Don't got to Ultra any day but the ASOT day. It's certainly a fun time, but the club parties in Miami that week are SOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER.

#2. Hotwire.com is your friend. Click "South Beach" and choose one of the random hotels. My friend and I payed about 70-80 bucks a night at the hotels we stayed at (a few different ones) and they were all baller.

Best hotel we got from Hotwire was the Catalina in South Beach. We were chilling on the rooftop pool deck and my buddy asked if we were allowed to smoke. The pool manager said "cigarettes? No. Weed? Sure!" and then proceeded to smoke me down in the bathroom. I seriously hope he still works there when I go this year.

#3. Walk. If it's too far to walk, take the bus. The bus system rules, use it. Don't waste your money on taxis, there is no point.

-if your going with a few people try and just rent a condo
or atleast get a room with a fridge and microwave...when your partying all day and night the last thing you wanna do is go out to a good resturant, just buy a whole bunch of tv dinners it will save you lots of $$$
- same thing goes for booze...BUY YOUR OWN BOOZE AND PREGAME BEFORE HAND!!!! in the clubs in miami drinks are just as expensive and the lines are stupid long (if your going to clubs, drink in the cab ride there)

- visit wet willies and drink call a cabs till everything becomes a blurr

- stay in south beach (from like 22nd to 14th street and washington collins) around that area is where most of the pool parties happen

- dont just go for ultra

- dont go to anjuna night, bunch of teenie kids singing sun and moon all night long (biggest mistake i made last year)

- go to sunday school

- during the day if you dont have any plans, go to the gansevoort beach or the armani exhange store...they usually have free parties
Sedna
Ganesvoort beach parties are sick.

All the action is pretty much in South Beach on Collins Ave, 1-17th street roughly. After that you get into old-people-land.

I actually kinda liked Anjuna. Tons of crowd energy during Above & Beyond, and I liked the warehouse it was in, as well as the huge awesome lawn outside to chill on. Not sure why you had a bad time AY, but I thought it was pretty fun.

"Don't just go to Ultra" is the best point I can possibly make. The club parties in Miami that week are SOOOOOO GOOD. Definitely hit up at least a few.

Also agree on the Condo thing. Last year I spent 5 nights in a Condo and then 4 nights in random South Beach hotels. The condo was a sleep 5 and was dirt ing cheap, and it was the same building the Miami Heat lives in.... it was nice.

I've got my ultra tickets. I'm an Ultra noob too. I hope I will move back to NY before Ultra so I'm holding off on getting the plane ticket. Don't know when I'm going to go down either. We have a friend that lives in South Beach so we can stay with her and save a lot of money. Definitely gonna hit up da clubs/parties.
