I'm planning a cruise for Spring Break in March. I wanted to go to Jamaica, but besides the luxury of buying a brown paper bag full of weed, I heard that it's not that great of a destination. We're thinking about the Cayman Islands/Mexico cruise at the moment.
Have any of you gone on a cruise?
Tips? Advice? Entertaining stories?
The packages offered seem to be on the cheap side, as opposed to flying somewhere and forking out mula for a flight, hotel and food. I'm undecided, though. |

| I took one to Nassau and Freeport in the Bahamas awhile back. Not huge party areas, but very nice. |

First off...don't buy any weed in Jamaica....the police run constant stings on tourists there....if you get arrested don't plan on coming home any time soon.
If you are going to take a cruise make sure you get a room with a balcony....trust me you will appreciate it. Also, expect to pay a pretty penny for alcohol on a cruise. There is no all inclusive and they typically require a credit card at the beginning of the cruise as there is no cash exchange. |

My g/f wants to save money and get the interior room since she thinks we won't be using the room too much except for sleep. I keep arguing my case for the balcony or suite.
I don't plan on drinking, but what about smoking a joint aboard the cruise? Possible? |

I highly doubt it is possible. Also, good luck getting weed onto the boat from shore. All bags go through a scanner and some cruise lines actually have drug sniffing dogs. You are better off not taking the risk of being jailed in some foreign country.
With interior rooms expect sea sickness to be worse. Having a window to look out or a balcony to go out on definitely helps with the sea sickness. Also, you would be surprised at how much time you will actually spend in your room. |

| Why not just stay home, watch sea-themed movies (pirates of the carribean, master and commander, that cuba gooding jr thriller, that stoner boat captain ovie) and smoke a lot of weed. Problem solved |

+1
Cruises are lame anyways, are you trying to be bored out of your mind on a cruise playing shuffleboard with the grannies and watch the teeny boppers sneak around to try and get free alcohol? Anything touristy is silly imo, if you want to experience another country, do it Anthony Bourdain style and fly in with NOOOO RESERVATIONNNSSSS |

| It really depends on the kind of cruise you go on though. A lot of them have pretty big clobs, casinos, etc. |

| I've been on a few cruises and all of them have been awesome. If you pick the right cruise line you get some that have pretty awesome clubs on them with international DJs spinning. Armin spun on one cruise I was on. There is always something to do on a cruise....if you want to do things or you can just sit by the pool and relax. Cruises are not cheap and for even a decent cruise with some shore excursions is going to cost between $4,000.00 and $7,000.00 per couple. |
