Either way you look at it, both the non-EDM and especially the EMD lineups were waaaaaaaay better.
Seems like they just played it safe (and lame) this year.

i can't believe coachella didn't address the scalping problem when they knew how big this year was going to be.
simply make people submit a photo when they buy the ticket and the photo goes on your ticket/wristband. your face obviously has to match when you walk in (for you and your party). simple as that.
glastonbury does that and i don't see them having a problem packing the place out.

I'm with you on this. Initially I thought I was just prejudiced against the ty EDM on this years lineup but then I thought more about it and came to realize that this is the worst lineup (imo) since I started going in 2007.
You didn't show last years lineup tho, just 2010 and 2009. Why I love coachella so much - and this is evident in those posters - there's so much talent permeating every line of the lineup. This year I just don't see it. Look at lines 4 and 5 on each of those lineups for every day. There's a strong case to be made for seeing just about every single act in those lines. Line 6 in each day for 10 and 09 read like line 4 or line 5 for this years lineup. LAMMEEEEEEE hahaha

That's exactly what I mean. Aside form the EDM, I would have gladly gone to see the majority of the acts listed in the previous years, but I'm struggling to find anything that matches the abundance of quality this year. There's like one or two worth seeing each weekend, and that aint worth the ticket price.

This will be my first coachella. I bought 4 tickets in June with the logic that I just want to see the festival and could care less who is playing. So Im just going to make the most of it and have fun with all my friends.
And I am pretty in stoked to see this

While I'm with others here that it's a pretty weak line-up this year - feels like 2010 and 2011 rehashed - I've always felt that that can mean a more enjoyable experience as there are fewer conflicts and you don't spend the whole festival running from stage to stage to catch 15 mins of one act, 20 min of another, etc.
M83 and Amon Tobin are the only highlights in the electronic genre for me this year.
