Mixmag's Greatest Dance Act Of All Time (pg. 3)

Hahah lovely Jack. Could you consider getting drunk and argue instead? :p

Maybe other people have already said it but here's my take:

It wasn't surprising to see Deadmau5 and Above & Beyond on the list, but I can't wrap my head around the fact that The Shamen, a dance act I've never even heard of, is supposed to be more popular than Aphex Twin.

it wasn't really directed at you. that rabbit in the mood rant was made of poofter powder and broken dreams.

women will do that to you dude. I take 2 hour s with soundcloud blaring via my phone for a little peace. that or do what I do here:p

i mean rabbit in the moon is the 90's equivalent to brostep. when people say something will melt your brain, it usually means that the person does too many drugs and the tracks are obnoxious sausage party music.

Yeah, wasn't really directed at you either. Pozz is a cool guy and I know it's completely ridiculous to get worked up about which act someone wants to see on a list, so I just wanted to make it clear I was venting about some other .

On topic: the lack of Aphex Twin is surprising, and all you kids wondering who The Shamen were pretty much proves the point I made in the opening post - I would have thought they were too distant a memory to still make this kind of list.

My main issue is deadmau5... his last album has been getting bad reviews. He's gonna be forgotten in like 2 years.

I think for the rest of Europe The Shamen above Aphex Twin is not a surprise at all, and if it was a German magazine others would be far above The Shamen for sure.

I don't think a recent last album of artists should affect the result of "The best dance act EVER" list much.

Best track ever is Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody, I expect it will take 20 years at least before that's gonna change or not?

I know, but my point was he's quite a fad that's already on the way out.

Okay, in that way, indeed.

I'm not so sure about this. I worked a festival 2 years ago in which he cancelled. The amount of pissed off people that complained or wrote emails to do so was astounding. This festival had 50+ acts and just that one cancelation made the young crowd go ape. He came back a year later and sold out 3 shows in a large venue back to back to back on weeknights in near record time. MTV, awards shows, and mainstream appeal plus the mousehead brand blowing up means that he is here to stay.

I hate the music, I hate the cheesy mascot gimmick, I hate the type of neon kids and frat boys that like this ...the thing is all these things will keep him popular in the same way the daft punk robot thing did for them. I mean daft punk was ok, but without the gimmick they would not have had the same success. the same thing happened with them, MTV, awards, mainstream....it's almost history repeating itself.

Rodri Santos
A&B is the strangest part for me, the prodigy blew me out when i saw them. Leftfield,Kraftwerk... looks serious indeed just expected Faithless to be on 2 they are legendary from the very begining.
Woony
If I remember correctly, A&B always were majorly pushed by Mixmag, even more so than the other big Trance acts, so I think that may explain that.
