This is dub tech bordering on the techniness of techno but not quite touching it. This is the epitome of the Mark Anthony sound. The kick drum is perfect for me.

exactly, and there are plenty of producers making dub techno on their computers right now and IMO it just doesn't work, it's not the same. It feels very sterile and synthetic and lacks the sense of space that real dub techno is about.
Anyway did anyone mention Fluxion or Quantec? Deadbeat? Resoe? In fact anything Echocord/Echocord Color, it's probably my favorite dub techno label.

last 2 posts are just a cop out. spoken by people who probably dont have a clue about production. what does "transcience" even mean...? if the productions feel sterile obviously they aren't good enough at achieving the correct timbres and textures, lack of skill. i wont go further into this analog vs digital debate, its pointless.

do you think a track made with a minimalist setup entirely on the computer that has not undergone any external processing can ever sound as good as one made in a proper studio?

i think anything is possible with technique and sound design. there are so many things you can do, even things you cant think off of the slightest, sampling techinques, re-sampling etc. it goes on. and by minimalist setup i hope you mean a soundcard, monitors and possibly some headphones.

Oops, meant transients. I've actually been working with a buddy who has releases on Bedrock and 8bit Records coming out within the next few months; and am currently working on my first track.. I'm by no means an expert but I've been doing a lot of research. I won't argue with you either, you obviously know your .
I never said making good dub techno is imposible using soft synthesis, but reproducing rich analog soundscapes will probably require mastery; knowing synthesis inside out. Talent to that degree is just as rare as the vintage gear.
