Total cheese when promoters/DJs do the event thread thing in the main forum but given the fact it's about the show being moved to the mainroom I'm glad he did it. Probly turned a lot of "maybe" people to "for sure" people. Techno sounds great in there and with no mainstream bookings there's actually going to be breathing room.
I doubt anyone would know now but if later in the week someone hears of set times please post... |

its not a forum rule. it just looks pretty lame so it is frowned upon by many people.
let roll calls be made by PATRONS that are attending the event, not someone that is working it. |
So, for arguments sake, there's a fairly big shindig going on. It's within a week of the event and, due to a chance that people are feeling abnormally lazy, no roll call is started. I've seen this a few times before and was surprised since the events were large enough (no I don't remember which one).
Getting close to the event, wouldn't this justify someone in the event to take the bull by the horns and do something about it? The roll calls are, to some extent, a type of promotion no matter who starts it. Whomever is associated with the event helps bring it to light in a roll call, thus helping some ppl who actually forgot, etc, jar them into perhaps coming afterall. |

Having someone like Erphun play the Main Room at Guv is, I think, a very good thing re: 'normalizing' proper techno in Toronto! I fully support events like this one (and, e.g., the 'Dark Matter' parties that Anthony D'Amico is throwing these days) because they bring some much needed and appreciated change to the typical house/tech house/tribal/prog/trance scene that dominates Toronto. I've never doubted that significant numbers of people here love techno; it's amazing to see more and more events happening in the city at big venues that cater to folks who like the darker side of EDM.
I would also like to mention that I'm making my Guv debut at this party as I'll be opening for Chris Fresque inside the Acid Lounge, spinning 10pm-1am. Of course, it'd be amazing to see some familiar faces pop in to catch a bit of techno goodness inside Acid! I couldn't be more excited :)
