No, John, I completely disagree...let's hope not. Do you really want our weekends more flooded by people who watch shows like this? And our cover/ticket prices going up because of an increase in demand from those people? |
i def agree with you, but it's also going to have to do with the artist/promoter
if he still continues to do like an underground blkmarket type party i doubt you will see noob's there
say matthew dear does decide to do this show and his name goes all over the tv,internet, newspapers etc
then he decides go to pacha, whores himself out on fb and on the flyer it says "from the hit simon cowell dj show" etc etc
than he is pretty much a sell out |

this article explains everything. yes guest judges will include djs from a variety of genres. aoki, oakie, and jamie jones. and have frankie knuckles as a mentor. BUT BUT BUT KHLOE KARDASHIAN is the head of the celebrity panel.
"The much loved Khloe told Prez “It will be all about having fun and showing that you can entertain and make a crowd jump .” ” Im a huge fan of House music so ill be making sure the uber cool Ibizan music of underground stars such as David Guetta will get as much a showcase as Hip Hop and Rock.”"
Since when is someone who is on the radio every other song underground?!?!?! |

That’s a matter of opinion. The scene is dieing at a fast rate. There is so little talent out there right now its disgusting. I think a show like this might inspire some of today’s youth to go out and learn the history of edm DJing / producing and try it out themselves. While it may bring more crap to the scene it will also bring more talent. The scene needs to evolve and grow to survive. |

I'm going to disagree with you about the talent out there. For instance, this weekend has some really good DJs playing in NYC - Tale of Us & Thug****** tonight, Maya Jane Coles & Sven Weisemann tomorrow, Lee Burridge on Sunday.
Next weekend has Christian Smith on Friday and Saturday has a really awesome looking Carl Craig, Mortiz von Oswald & Francesco Tristano BlkMarket party (see the 90 minute video on youtube, amazing) that I can't make, as well as DJ Hell & Kate Simko at a Verboten party.
BTW, are you going to Sasha @ Cielo? |

I agree - with techno there is alot of variety and choices out there but that is not the case with the house or trance.
Na im not going to sasha, I didnt like his last two performances. have fun :--) |

I wouldn't call a lot of those listings techno. Check out some of Maya Jane Coles stuff, you may like. |

Recognition for what? They do what they love and get mad money for touring already. The ones that really do deserve it and work hard for it are recognised, why more? |
You know I love you but would still argue that you're describing a very small portion. Where's Robert Babicz? Activa? Charlie May? Guys like these have definitely earned it over the years and are still not nearly as recognized as they should be :( |

^agreed with brad
and chaska - i think using the term 'recognition' probably wasn't the best choice from me. i'm referring to a specific feeling that i'm sure we've all had. the feeling of when you really love something and think some friends might hopefully enjoy it so you want to introduce it to them. whether or not you regret that later isn't really the point i'm trying to make. |
