I don't have a problem with the number. I do have a problem with where those immigrants will want to live, meaning, toronto, van, mtl. Those cities do not need more immigrant population.
And the fact that Canada has no real program for assimilating immigrants into Canadian culture and society
For the most part, they are shipped to other cities, and not the large urban areas like Mon, Van and Tor.
That is why places like Gatineau is having such a hard time with integrating them. Well that and Quebec is plain racist.

And I love how rehtoric comes out so fast.
'they didn't say it, but they were alluding to it'
and
'oh don't worry silly sheep, one day you will wake up from your con brainwashing'.
We need to balance our cheque book, plain and simple.

THAT'S THE PROGRAM!! It's called multi-culturalism... it means, you come here and can keep whatever backward ass custom you had back in your failing country... this is the program!! (sadly!)

I don't know if you saw the recent article about crime on the decline in Canada. This means we in theory should end up spending less on jailing people anyways, leaving more money for other things.
No . Hiring 5000 new guys to work in jails, and cutting almost 5000 from the military.
Next time you'll be driving down Horner st. check out new Mimico jail.
It's huge, probably 10.000 ppl capacity.
Wonder what exactly are they getting ready for?

lol @ all this anti-conservative talk. Mind you, I am a regular joe that doesn't hold anything related to a political degree, however, I'll call it as I see it.
Understand this. To balance the cheque book you need to reform the system completely. I agree on majority of his idea's, and I agree we need to tweak our immigration policy. 1 in 5 Canadians are immigrant, now how many of them actually contribute to society? Not saying that they are lazy and unwilling to work, however, like many citizens born and raised here, they abuse the system.
To state is plainly:
Too many people not making income (therefore spending within our economy decreases), taking advantage of social services (welfare, free health-care, what have you) = this mess we find ourselves in. If we focus on attracting immigrants that can actually be an productive member and contribute to society, more money will be and can be spent within Canada.
On the topic of US/China/Europe/India it just makes sense. Why limit our horizon's to our southern partners?

A upgrade on infrastructure? Everyone's so keen on trying to find out the 'truth' that they miss the obvious facts.

Do you really think that immigrants are poor and unemployed because they're unskilled and lazy? No. Its because they lack the "Canadian experience" that most employers want and so they're stuck in dead-end jobs making minimum wage.
Canada's immigration system already gives preference to educated, skilled, young immigrants. A larger percentage of immigrants have university degrees than the Canadian-born population - we can't get much more picky than that. That they end up doing menial labour is the problem that needs to be addressed.

No matter who would be running this country, we all be complaining about some bs or another. No matter the politician, they will find a way to let you down.
