| For years I've been saying that Harper's Conservatives are destroying so many aspects of our great country. They literally lie to us on a daily basis, especially about fighting crime and protecting our 'energy interests'. |

We've never had a more secretive government then we do now. Harper is taking us away from what it once meant to be Canadian. Canada isn't a right winged country. I always find it ironic when I'm passing a joint around with some friends and one of them starts yapping my ear off about how great the conservatives are. Uhhhhmmmmm wtf are you doing smoking a f**king joint, your great leader would cut your hands off for that if he could. Not saying weed is the main issue but come the f on. Being liberal is about being able to weigh the pros and cons from both sides, I don't see how you can be against that???..... unless you are a greedy pr*ck coughs Harper Cough |

Do you really think that immigrants are poor and unemployed because they're unskilled and lazy? No. Its because they lack the "Canadian experience" that most employers want and so they're stuck in dead-end jobs making minimum wage.
Canada's immigration system already gives preference to educated, skilled, young immigrants. A larger percentage of immigrants have university degrees than the Canadian-born population - we can't get much more picky than that. That they end up doing menial labour is the problem that needs to be addressed. |
Have you noticed the majority of who these immigrants are? Younger kids, and older seniors.
Once again, not saying everyone is lazy, but when you have a family of 4/5 coming and just 1 person is 'suitable' to work, it takes a toll. |

Absolutely! I know a hand full of engineers, and a few doctors that cannot get certified, because the systems didn't exist when they came to Canada, and so they work minimum wage jobs.
Chief of Surgery, and a OBGYN working at Swiss Chalet. SAD.

That used to be the case, sometimes. Certainly not anymore.
Now you have to be able to pass a very stringent English test, and a more stringent immigration test. The cons have made both tests harder since they were elected.
Actually, I'd like to see a single person in this thread pass both tests.
This isn't the 80's, and we are not just letting anybody through anymore. |

| Why didn’t he announce this in front of his own people in Canada??? Was he afraid that we might disagree with him? 4 more years to go folks and don’t say you weren’t warned about the consequences of having a Harper majority. |

I thought the more stringent English/French test was for citizenship only. Not just for immigrating. |

Ok. So what does it mean to be Canadian?

You sure about that? Read Canadian history. Canada has done stuff that'd make even the most conservative Yanks go WTF. (meaning, stuff supposedly only 'right wing' govts do)

I am waiting for Harper to make it impossible for non-Canadian born citizens to become politicians and ban dual-citizens from being politicians also. Adios to Mulclair and that dude from the Liberals. Also countless others would lose their job also. You could be a Canadian citizen (of immigrant origin), with the best intention to make this country a better place or not, but you shouldn't have the right to be in politics.
I can go even more overboard. If you are a 3rd generation Canadian you could become a politician.
Would my ideas ever work for this country, probably not. Even the most conservatives wouldn't even touch that. Seeing they know they would be run out of office for being to "racist" or close minded to the world around them.
At least Harper wants to bring in more immigrants to help the Canadian population and not go the way of Japan (i.e extinction). |
