Giant's reference to JOC (most recent event, good night BTW) was "Firmly established in the A-list trance elite".
Armada's is "to outrun his ‘next big thing’ tag and move over to A-list fast-track".
To really make a point you need to produce multiple credible references to the "longstanding trance legend" quote. |

Drop the JOC thing, he has made 5-6 good tracks ever.

I always will have a soft spot in my heart for JOC. When I started getting into trance, "Big Sky" was the first big song that I loved.
He certainly isn't anywhere near "legend" status. Even if he produced 50 amazing tracks over the past few years it takes more time to gain the "legend" label. |

In the end, it's all personal taste...
I can say that I feel like Ferry is a legend even though I don't like a lot of his music. He just never stops pushing the boundries and making new sounds.
Sure is stuff is cheesy and all, but he never stops looking to do something new.
Or Cosmic Gate, they have been around for so long, making so many hits... I don't like how stuck and shallow their new album is... But then again, it's only my taste.
So and "genre>genre" statements just shows that you might be a bit too egocentric |

This.
But seems to me that those with a lot of insecurities over the music they listen to will constantly talk down other genres. Digweed produces and spins awesome Prog House, A&B produce and spin awesome Trance & Prog, however I would never attempt to compare the two.
Any DJ who can fill a club and keep the crowd happy all night is a legend for that night IMO. But have heard JOC before and found the set to be boring, and the crowd didn't seem to be in touch with the music, for the most part.
So I think it's fair to critique a DJ's set on a particular night and give an opinion, but to stereotype an entire genre and boast its superiority over another just reeks of insecurity to me. Doesn't impress me at all, time to flush the toilet... |

| After seeing him at the Exchange and the Yost I think you should give him another chance. |

so what you're saying is that the promoter(which i never referred to by name, i'm not a boris md) stretches the truth to put it lightly?
Interesting... |

not my ego...sounds like someones ego in regards to joc is a bit high...thats all.
so it sounds like in conclusion, some people tend to stretch the truth and make statements that arent really true, truly disappointing.
as for that ferry guy you refer to, ferry corsten? I saw him in SD in december I think he's got some real potential, finally started getting booked on saturdays at avalon, but relegated to sundays in san francisco unless he's co-headlining with a "LEGEND" like Eddie Halliwell...
:D |

hitting the drugs again?
a statement was made(NOT BY ME)
i merely posted said statement and did some deduction/reasoning to come to the conclusion that house>trance based on how easy "Legend" status is handed out.
same with martial arts, if receiving a 6 degree black belt in a martial art was something you could accomplish in 2 days, there would be a lot of those out there....some disciplines take years if ever to reach that level, therefore that martial art > than the one that gives out 6 degree black belts like hotcakes.
Again, i never made the statement calling ANYONE a legend. i just took a statement that was made and sent out to the EDM community and made an argument. don't blame me, blame the statement maker... |

again, i didnt make the statement that joc was a
"longstanding trance legend" and from your experience you should be utterly upset that the statement was made because it dilutes what a "trance legend" really is. which is what my argument was. people need to be careful about setting precedent, now that joc is a "longstanding trance legend" I can't wait to read how Paul van dyk, markus schulz and that up and comer ferry corsten will be referred to in the upcoming weeks...

no way? people would do that? here? on earth?
man, that really IS disappointing. good thing you created this thread so we could figure this life changing information out in time for the weekend:confused:
Does that mean there is a chance circus could be stretching the truth a bit too, with their claim that Judgement sundays is the LARGEST club in Ibiza in promoting their night with Jules next month?
So the really BIG promters do it, and the "bottom Feeder" promters do it...wow...this is so disturbing, I cant believe promoters for nightclubs and trance djs would do us all wrong like this.
Omar/bigperf, can you find ALL the promoters that do this crap and expose them here on TA? We need to put a stop to this before we all get even more disappointed. Please start a new thread for each one too! And label them all "House>trance" so that everybody can be sure to grasp your point:wtf: |
