The tide shifting with Blackberry users going over to iPhones....

I guess I'm a bit surprised at the shift in the past year -- specifically because the reasons BB users stuck to their devices in the past are still there today (physical keyboard(on some models), email, bbm, etc.)
So, what is it? Is it just the mass media consensus that RIM is a sinking ship and/or iphones are just now seen as acceptable consumer + 'business' devices?
Hmmm? |

The shift isn't as apparent as its often made out.
Blackberry is the most used smartphone in Canada, the UK and is outpacing apple in almost every developing market. Blackberry users grew by 35% last year alone. Yes, the iphone is the "in demand" phone right now and sales & market share reflects this, but it isn't exactly the one horse race the media often makes it to be.
Sidenote: the iphone 4, 3GS, & ipad have all been pulled from the German market after Samsung won a court order against them. |

I was talking to one of my fabric suppliers on Friday and he is like, I will never give up my BlackBerry. He went on like a 10 minute rant, how RIM should just be called BlackBerry and there should only be one phone the Bold and not like all the other models out there. Which I did agree with him, just RIM takes forever to update their OS though and specs. Plus he talked about how they should work on their ad campaigns.
OT: I might even get a PlayBook sometime in the near future, seeing it supports Android apps or I'll stick to waiting for a proper Android tablet. |

That's a big deal for me. I'm not sure about touch-screen users on Android or iPhone but I appreciate being able to type without having to look at my keyboard the whole time. |

I hate arguing with people over BB and iphone. I find a lot of people I have these discussions with just dont see the other side of the tech industry as well as the other side of BBs.
Its almost as useless as discussing religion. |
