You forgot to put Venezuela, Canada, Russia, Norway and Alaska on that map. US only gets about 6% of our from the middle east, most of out comes from Canada

^It really doesn't matter where our oil comes from. If something disrupts the global supply of oil, the price will go up for everyone in the world.

+1

Just because we do not buy our oil from them, others do. When other countries cannot buy Iranian oil, then those countries buy it from our suppliers. Also, since 20% of the world's oil goes through the Strait of Hormuz, the threat of closure alone drives up prices as well.

*edit* - forgot to mention that Iran will not close the strait. The U.S. has stated that the closure will be considered an act of war. They will not start a war over that.

They say organic, but it just means the food they eat has no synthetic pesticides. They still use pesticides (especially a carcinogen like argon) on anything that says organic on the label, it's one of the biggest misleading labels ever. They've tried to sue many times to have organic labels that use organic pesticides to put on their labels that they use pesticides still, but our good old friends at Monsanto fought this and won. Sickening

True! But if you look at every nitty gritty detail of food ingredients, you will find something of concern in pretty much every single food out there.

Rice milk , for example, has far fewer nutrients and protein than does milk that comes from animals. Also, it has been shown to contain high levels of arsenic, which can be deadly if consumed in large amounts, which is why parents are advised not to serve rice milk to kids under 4 years of age.

Soy milk too has been linked with infertility in men and cancer. The former danger, even if a myth, was enough for me to switch back to cows milk. :p

Honestly, I think all these side effects are only valid if you consume a particular product in excessive amount, so moderation is really the key. Personally, I have only been drinking organic 1% or 2% milk for the past few years and only use it in cereal or in my coffee. My cheese consumption is where I needed to cut down and recently, I've reduced my cheese intake too.

CA sales tax on GAS should be cut in half to at least help some in the meantime..

True but people have this misconception that somehow it's always a problem in middle east that's the cause of gas prices to soar. In reality, it's Venezuela who are the ones that recently cut back on production causing the price to soar. The speculators betting on this whole Iran fiasco should blame our government and Israel for the tension. Iran isn't going to nuke anyone, especially with about ten thousand war ships stationed in the Indian Ocean. It's just like Iraq all over again

You'll only save like 5 dollars a fill, the state could use the cash much more than any individual

This is true, once you get all into it, EVERYTHING is Contaminated and basically we are pretty much screwed. The industrial technological revolution has destroyed our ecosystem of healthy food.

Basically do the best job we can and pray it all works out. If not, we are all gonna die anyways, right?

I remember a few years back I got super health conscious and I always take things to the extreme. I came to the conclusion, unless we move to some remote island and build a hermetically sealed bubble, then clean the whole environment inside it and start growing your own stuff. There is no way to escape all this cancer causing non-sense.

How much radiation is floating around just from Fukishima, nevermind the 1000 nuclear tests that were done in Nevada
