I want a drum plugin that does this.

I want a built in step sequencer like Maschine

I'd like the step sequence data drag and drop-able like you can with EZdrummer grooves.

I'd like samples to be hot swappable like in Battery.

It must not be Geist, it's a mess.

If Maschine is the only one that can do this, then i'm happy to buy its beautiful dongle as well as I could use the pads.

I want these features too.

I wonder why so many developers dont know how producers want to work.
Geist is a mess of complexity, so it kills workflow and inspiration.

Shall we develop one! Call it 'The Slagg'. Second incarnation could be called 'The Ho'.

Maschine has a step sequencer.
Maschine has drag and drop midi/audio data into the sequencer
You can swap a sample in maschine while it is playing but not back-and-forth (I don't exactly know what you mean by hot swappable)

I'll say it again...Xfer Nerve.

Tell me about it. Even back when I tried Guru it was a total mess. All that's needed is something really simple. Dunno why there aren't more out there doing what I want!

By hot swappable I just mean I can swap one sample for another while a complete loop is playing. I think I've seen it's possible in Maschine, and I can certainly do it in Battery so I would imagine the function is there.

Maschine is 'on the list'

Nerve goes way beyond simple hot-swamping. About the only place I'd give Battery the nod is for its ability to layer samples and build huge kits. For most EDM work, you're not going to need that anyway. Nerve has some really cool features for selecting samples for each pad on the fly, including random piece/kit selection. Spend 25 minutes watching these videos (the first video shows how to hot-swap samples):

You got a nerve.

There, you now have the title for your next track. I will accept $50k Canadian or 10% of your Facebook following as idea royalty.

I think that might be the ticket right there. I'm not fussed about sample layering within the plugin anyway.

The GUI is nice too.

Time for a demo tomorrow I think.

Both already included in Cubase, do EXACTLY what you want.
and interact TOGETHER.
you just need to spend 5mins on youtube to understands how it works together.

I'm still a happy oldskooler with Cubase Studio 4 :D

I've not upgraded yet as I just don't see the need (apart from multi channel export) and CS4 is virtually 100% stable for me. It's the stability I like best, especially as on the rare occasions it does bug out it virtually always catches itself and allows me a save before collapsing.

The Nerve demo installs as a 32bit plugin and there's no mention of 64bit on the website.

Yeah, I should have mentioned that. The demo is an older version. The newer version is 64-bit and has a bunch of goodies that you won't find in the demo, unfortunately. As I recall, if you register the demo, you can access the forum where you can see all the information from the latest version, which has been a long-standing beta/release candidate. It's essentially that way because he keeps adding features to it! But, yes, rest assured that it is 64-bit and very stable.
