Anybody here using H-EQ and, if so, what are your thoughts? I use FabFilter Pro=-Q for 99% of my EQ duties and I definitely don't feel like I need another EQ plugin, but those asymmetrical filters and its interface really have me lusting over it. Besides, Waves Universe has it at only $89.
BTW, I plan on demoing it before deciding, but I'd still like to hear from people who have used it for a while, especially if you've compared it to Pro-Q.

I've found some other reviews and comparisons around the web and the general consensus is that H-EQ is very much a "color" EQ, as opposed to Pro-Q's more neutral sound. That gives me even more incentive to give it a go. Also, the snap-frequency-band-to-note feature is very cool, although I don't know how often I'd actually use it.
Raphie - when did you get your voucher? I was under the impression that they were only good for 14 days. I think I still have an unused $200 voucher from purchasing the SSL 4000 bundle last year. |

Let me know what you think, although my GAS is pretty bad this week and it's tax return time, so I'll probably just buy it anyway. |

check out ddmf's products and Equality for low cpu EQ's that rock.
Keymapping is indeed cool for harmonic equing but they missed out on being able to move them via midi trigger which kinda makes it not really that useful unless you don't know pitch hz relation. Now if they had a way to lock the relationships and be able to move them via one automation parameter, that would of been cool
I personaly find fabfilter less laggy, better gui and more transparent. |

Yeah, I've checked out both the DDMF and DMG EQs before, but I like Pro-Q much better and neither of them offered enough difference from Pro-Q to really interest me. |

| i suppose it is the cpu friendliness that i use it for, Any channel that doesn't really need any sculpting gets a ddmf eq. they are 64 bit and really really really cpu friendly. IT adds up if you have enough tracks. Also, some interesting curves which you might of seen like on the UAD Cambridge eq. |

So, do you have the H-EQ? Does it have a pretty noticeable CPU hit? Keep in mind that I would probably continue using Pro-Q for the majority of my EQ needs, and H-EQ used more sparingly for special duties. |

I haven't had it on enough things to notice. I don't think it would matter unless you are using alot of tracks. IT has some limitations that are surprising for the H series which is supposed to be like modern and vintage mixed is that you can't select the curve type, you are limited to the bands they provide, you can't even change the Q reaction to gain increase decrease.
I suppose if you wanted a vintage emu with m/s capabilities, then this is for you. But i don't really buy into the whole emu hype. And the analog button is still in v. 9 but i think they've at least made it default off. OR maybe it always was, i jsut remember often using a plugin and there was this noise, and it was that stupid analog button.
The gui is as laggy as v8.
But i mean it is incredibly cheap. So why not. It does frustrate me to no end how they forget to put things in they already have the code for. Like take an extra month, ask people what they think. And the hole vintage GUI is so incredibly lame. They have already beat UAD to the punch being 64 bit. Stop copying and do it better. |

So H-EQ for me is to replace X-EQ which i sold, I further have SONNOX EQ, but i find it a bit limited (limited filter points, no RTA in the back etc) |
