montana
djdk. i loved it. it was very disco and it didn't matter that it was just 40minutes. it was solid, it was funky, the flow was really good and the tunes were wicked.

jan. you delivered as well. goes through the range of uk bass and keeps it's cohesive and with a wicked flow. killer tunes as well, a hefty dose of which i haven't heard before and i know you can deliver the goods on that.

the only thing that bugged me was the encore tune. that one was weak, you should have played skiba & bashy's freestyle from that 1xtra thing

Cheers for the comment Dave, Both yours and Jan's mix's were spot on, to the point where it felt like they were done by enthusiasts from within those respective areas. Very good stuff guys.
Sand Leaper
DK - That was way too short! I really would have liked to hear where you would've gone with this kind of mix for a two hour set or so, as these 30 mins seemed more like the start of the build to something really special than a set in itself. Was impressed by how smoothly this flowed mixingwise, also. It really sounds like you took your time to figure out how to stitch records with instruments played by humans together in a way that's compatible with a modern dancefloor, and you really pulled it off. Well done.

Tony - This "autonomic" stuff doesn't do much for me either, but kept short and smoothly built up the way you did here, it made for a pleasant enough listen. The liberties genrewise you took fit in very nicely as well, especially Hanging Gardens, which really has a lot of the elements that are staple in autonomic to begin with.
Mattsanity.
I don't have a vendetta against anybody, but none of the mixes posted were my cup of tea. I appreciate everybody's hard work though.

My mix is coming. But it's not going to be very enthusiastic. I'd probably prefer to be tortured with euro dance and happy hardcore over freestyle :whip:

Which reminds me that I totally need to do a happy hardcore mix sometime.

Glad to hear your mix might come in eventually. :)

Jan, excellent mix. I know literally nothing about UK Garage but I could tell that this was a crash course into some of the fun tunes that clubs were banging several years ago.

Montana, not bad at all, but exceedingly short and didn't seem to have much of an "autonomic" feel after about the first half. I don't know anything about this genre either, so take my comments with a grain of salt. It was relatively enjoyable though, I didn't hate it.

Dave, I haven't listened to yours yet, but I'm getting there.

Mr Game+Watch
Thanks everybody for the comments! Really happy to hear that people are digging my mix... looks like I have a bunch of mixes to go through, even though I wasn't as into the "dark garage" sound as compared to the more soulful stuff, this is probably the first time I've seen the genre mixed on TA, so I'm very curious about Sand Leaper's set.

So far I've only listened to Grant's atmospheric set. As a fan of Bukem/Good Looking, I really dug the set, liked how you did a bit of scratching sporadically throughout it, and was really into the last track. Only thing missing was having Horizons or Music in it!

I've listened to part of Nick's as well, the Simon Patterson song was awesome, though the rest was a bit harsh for my ears :P Didn't help I had a bit of a headache when listening to it... so I will try again! Mixing and song selection seemed spot-on though!

Ok.. so I ran a bit over 80 mins, but here's my mix for this round. I'd like to do it it again but I'm going to be quite busy over the next few weeks, so I've decided to settle for this mix otherwise I doubt I'd submit at all. I'll warn now, it's not my best mix lol, it kin of wanders around a bit, I found it hard to give a clear direction for the mix with this specific strain of dnb alone, not at all saying it can't be done, I'd just need to be able to devote a lot more time to it, but I hope it's at least a somewhat half decent attempt at mixing this style.
Again I've tried to cover tunes that I feel best represent this genre, from classics to some quite recent tracks.

Finally had a listen to this, will get to the others soon. I thought you did a good job, especially in the first half, lots of old-school spacey atmospheric there. That PFM track with the cheeky Orbital sample is a classic. It did start to get a bit aimless in the second half, with touches of liquid and then some drumfunk at the end, but still a lot of good tracks. You always come up with the goods in these challenges.

EDIT: Got my ID wrong, it's the Seba & Lotek track. I know it from the 1996 Essential Mix by Bukem.
