| Hey all, I need some production help. I am really into using hardware for music production. I don't care for much for digital sequencing programs but I feel as though I am running out of options. I am currently using a Roland Juno G for production of my tracks. Being that trance largely depends on volume modifications, swooping dynamics, fading, phasing, etc. I have limited capability using just the keyboard. I have used Garageband before but want something better for mac. I basically am looking for a program which can do sequencing while syncing with the keyboard (as I do not want the beat to be off if I were to manually drag the separate tracks to sync) Thanks for any advice :gsmile: |

Any host will do that, as long as you have a halfway decent soundcard and computer. If you're using a relatively modern computer and soundcard, latency shouldn't be an issue. |

It's sorta like volume, but different. |

Oh cool. I should be fine then. My Mac is only like 2 years old and is pretty powerful. As far as tracks are concerned, how do you split each one? Because currently my audio interface only records the sequence exactly as it sounds. Once I have the song done it just plays as one track. How would I have it to where drums are a track , synths are another, snare/clap another etc. |

If I was a mod I would banhammer this |

Multitrack. You set up an audio track in the software host for each part that you want recorded and record them 1-4 parts at a time. I believe that the Juno G has 2 sets of stereo outputs, so you could conceivably record 2 stereo, 4 mono, or 1 stereo and 2 mono parts simultaneously, if your soundcard has at least 4 inputs. Route each the parts that you want recorded separately to its own output(s) in the Juno and mute the other parts, select the corresponding parts as inputs in the audio tracks in your host, and record. Rinse and repeat for the other parts. Yup, it's a tedious real-time process. |

Here are some sound cards which will allow you to do this:

There are others but anything less than $1200.00 is a joke. When it comes to sound cards, you really do get what you pay for. |

Thank you, yeah I didn't want to risk doing a crappy manual sync. I will do it as suggested.

Thanks, would using a MIDI interface get around the problem whole one track sequence problem? or would MIDI still have trouble? I'd definitely need to save for these, |

No, MIDI will give you 16 channels, so you'll still be limited by the number of audio inputs/outputs that you have between your synth and your soundcard. |
