you tune it differently dependent on the artist or when its live, a band, a DJ, or even EDM genres are different like more highs & mids for House and more bass for techno.

Not only that, but you'll be surprised how many DJ's don't know how to EQ properly and/or redline. I've seen big DJ's do it all the time. As a matter of fact, three weeks ago, the sound guys at Vive Latino bolted down a big bar across the up faders on the mixer Fatboy Slim was using. They also put a big sign that red DO NOT REDLINE!

:haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

The Funktion One system at The Exchange sounds great.

So Avalon is getting a new system? It'll be cool to hear how it sounds. As of now, they have GREAT bass (some people think it's a little too intense), but the highs are a little meh as others have said.

If you think about it, it makes sense for Avalon to get the new EAW AVALON (named after the Boston location, though it's closed now.) system....durrrrrrr

With these high end systems, they need to be maintained to keep their sound. The speakers break-in and then over time get loose and eventually need servicing. Humidity and all kinds of environmental factors come in to play.

There's an even better way to fix that. Compress the out of his inputs. You won't blow up sound system that way. That's how our company does it.

Actually you don't re-tune the system unless it's a touring rig. A sound system is tuned for the acoustics of the room or environment. Not the artist. You tweak the artist at the console, and not at the actual system processing.

IMO, L'Acoustics and Meyer Sound are better, but more expensive.

Plus Meyer focuses more on the more lucrative concerts and tour market, while Funktion is only at the clubs.

Funktion is slowly moving into the pro sound realm. I've mixed a few bands on the system and it's pretty damn good. I didn't have any complaints about it. In all honesty though, the PA doesn't matter. It's the guy who's mixing the artist that matters. If your sound guy mixes like , your sound will be . Honest truth.
