Since the forum is covered with festival threads, I figured Id throw this one up.
I went to Eclipse in 2010, and it was hands down the best festival Ive gone to. (havent gone to demf yet)
I very much subscribe to the non commercial side of house music.. im the type of guy who doesnt have fun at guv even in the best situations. I prefer the outdoors, and I need space.
If you want outdoorrave this is as close as you'll get. DJ worship does not exist here.
If you like psy/darker prog/techno/minimal... then this is the place for you.
Beyond the music, the goa/hippie cultural influence is very apparent. The site is amazing, deep in the outdoors next to a pristine river.
Dance all night, laze around and nap all day near the beach.. good times.
Here are some really ty videos i took in 2010. DNox is on the decks. Skipping is from the freeware converter i used.
Ill be there with an army of 15 or so.

If I can get a ride I might go (or get off my lazy ass, take some driving lessons and get my license so I can drive myself).
Went a few years ago and had a blast.

Can't wait!

How much of it is psy-trance? I'm pretty open minded when it comes to festivals, but psy is a little intense for me. I'm very attracted to the concept of the festival more then anything else, really sucks that Solar Fields cancelled!

the main stage is psy at night, and anything from techno to prog during the day.
the second stage is usually dnb/tech/techno during the day, full on minimal/techno at night.
im not a psy guy myself, and I had a blast. I spent 90% of the time dancing at the minimal/techno tent.
Every now and then id go check out the main psy stage.. mostly for the visuals, and the incredible scene that is watching 1000 ravers who know how to dance, move to psytrance.
i had a couple edm noob friends there, and they had a great time.

Theres a bus group getting organized from the GTA if you wanted to go that route.
Alternatively, im coordinating with a bunch of friends, we have a big group of drivers. pm me closer to the date and i might be able to help you out.

This is way more appealing to me than WEMF. Now that WEMF has lost it's trance/psy luster, this is a perfect alternative!
I'm really considering attending this. Where exactly in QC does this festival take place?
I love my psy and I love the outdoors. This could be in the works!

Go through the lineup and search for the DJ's to get a feel for them. Even many of the DJ's billed as psytrance play very much on the techy/proggy side. The year that I went Metalogic was headlining on the main stage on Friday night.
Usually once you hit the 2am-4am period of time - the main stage tends to get into the super-hard/dark full-on (and sometimes full-on cheeze territory), but the stage by the beach is more in dubby / minimal / techno land.
Personally, my favorite time for the psytrance stage is usually the early-morning stuff just as the sun is starting to rise. Even if you decide to hit the sack and try and sleep the night - getting up at 5/6am and you will still have plenty of time to get your dance on before the main stage shuts down.

Its a trek, but its worth it 100% Theres something surreal about being in the middle of nowhere with nothing but the stars, your friends and the music you love.

I don't think I'd group WEMF with either, but has anyone been to both Eclipse and Harvest? How do they compare?

Eclipse is much bigger, and much more large scale festival. More performers, much bigger theatrical aspect (lights/visuals etc) Much more psy and minimal
Harvest is smaller, more close knit. Very much the Promise' party vibe. There are several unique quirks that Harvest has that makes it one of a kind.
