Very true :)
However, I have seen second-hand multiple "energetic" or "problem" children being allowed to "explore their world" without the use of leashes. I have also seen parents using leashes as an excuse to not pay attention to their child, etc. Don't get me wrong, it must be tough being a parent, I'm not disputing that fact.
It's just that I have had different personal experiences re: this matter. My siblings and I, including my cousins, were handled without leashes. In malls, other noisy/busy areas, etc. Most of my friends were handled without leashes as well.
I guess it just depends on how you intend to allow your child to explore and if you feel safer with the leash. To each their own, as long as proper child rearing is allowed to take place.
Still, I don't have any kids, so I can't say anything concretely until I experience their crazy antics myself :p
I feel bad for the parents, actually, and I wish they can find a nursery place for their son. As for their daughter, I don't even know how they can find her now, I can't imagine how horrible it must've been for them :(

If my kid is anything like how I was when I was as a kid, then YES.
This is offensive, is anyone else bothered by how half-arsed these mothers all look ? Yeah , listen, you don't need a leash. You don't need to take your children to the mall, choose a park or an outdoor setting with less artificial stimulus. The beach or lake works. Also, diet! no soda, no over-processed foods, no caffeine. I am all for iPads and computers from day 1, though. And music too.

Homeschool your children if you can.

Meh, I don't see a problem with it if you're in some place where they could easily rush out into traffic and they are too young to know it could get them killed. Just an extra measure of safety. It looks silly, yeah, but better that than have your kid die because you dared to let your attention wander for all of two seconds.

I had to be tied up like that a few times when I was a toddler. I remember it too. I just wanted to do my own thing and nothing could stop me. Except a tether. Lol.

In my day the tether was a punch in the mouth.

You're probably seen this, but I guess it's true.

yeah i've seen him do that routine live. I'm not for beating kids, but sometimes all it takes is one decent shot and kids will respect and listen when you raise the pimp hand the next time.
I'm going to be horrible to my kids until they listen...stone cold stunner followed by a choke hold. That will teach them not to cry at night and hog my tittays dammit.
