This has been a great start to the summer as far as shows are concerned in Tampa and Miami. Hopefully the pace picks up for GOOD shows in Orlando...as of now we can look forward to Afrojack, Nicky Romero and Knife Party in O-Town...yay.
I'm beginning to think the scene just sucks here and when we do get good talent, Orlandoans don't pack the house. For instance, the Gabriel and Dresden show at Vain should've been slammed but it wasn't. And Cosmic Gate at the Beacham had a pathetic crowd.
Tampa gets guys like Loco Dice and Dubfire (I know, it's been delayed) -- I'd love to see a a DJ like that in Orlando. Closest we get to that is guys like Martin Buttrich at Skysixty but you can't really compare that kind of show to a Loco Dice event at a huge club - and the cover for Skysixty shows are never more than 10 dollars and it's never packed for those techno guys (though I do love that venue and those shows, don't get me wrong). |
