I don't see the point in labels nowadays, with digital delivery being the most popular distribution system, legal or otherwise.

Labels don't make music. Musicians do. I mean why don't you just have a link in your Facebook page to PayPal checkout to buy your track, and
automate the sending of MP3s. Not that I do this, but it's what I would do if I wanted to charge for music. It's better than giving half the $ to Apple/Beatport.

I agree mostly. If a label generates just a 100 Digital sales on a single you should do it yourself.

If a label actively strives to add value to an artist's brand and vice versa I think they can both stil exist and cooperate. I'd like to see a record label that differentiates their brand from all the others. Being a pure genre label or on beatport isn't enough. I'd like to see a record label with a genuine unique selling point. Something no other label has. In the dance music, imo, there isn't one.

Labels can get you noticed by sites like Beatport though, and lots of people buy music, or at the very least find it there. Like, my first EP got featured in Beatport's new releases and the track Undiscovered on my last EP was a "Must Hear Electro House" track. That wouldn't have happened if I released independently.

I haven't heard the track, but personally none of those beatport recommendations or DJ lists means anything to me as far as quality goes.

Just the other day I heard a track that was DJ RYanish make it onto beatport, so getting signed really doesn't mean anything unless its a good exclusive label.

ROFL. The donation campaign saved the label. They are now back 'high in the sky'.

Why do they have to be such ing pussies? They're sooo pathetic. I ing hate t.nu'ers with a passion.

Idk.

At the end of the tape it lists the people who donated. Then it's says thanks to those who showed 'moral support' like they played an equally important role as the people who gave money. In that case, I think they should have thanked me by name first since I got them a lot of youtube views by linking to the video on a major EDM site ;)

You can get a turd released on Beatport. I didn't mean getting it released on Beatport, I meant getting it placement on charts.

And the "Must Hear ***" charts are generally tracks that are fairly solid in their respective genres.

This is the track I had that got featured:

Slightly different direction then I know you from (close to a Trance) but still very likable production man.

Can we not turn this thread into an argument thread? So far this has mainly been agreeable, amazing giving it is almost 6 pages.

I don't really think it is reasonable to call his music bad either.
