England having too much fun (pg. 2)

Man, I ing hate this drinking culture. I was invited to a night out yesterday for a friend of a friend's birthday, and after a couple of hours I was so ing depressed by everything around me I literally had to leave. Everything about it - the types of bars and clubs, the music they play and the obnoxious wits who partake in it all - makes me extremely anti-social. I managed to ignore all this for years, but now nights out with work friends have reintroduced me to it. I find it impossible to enjoy.

I'm actually rather reminded of Dostoevsky's descriptions of rampant alcoholism in Crime and Punishment.

And the drunkards keep on drinking...it's now low life, it's just people having fun (I guess).

I believe I know what you're referring to. I'm a big believer in working hard and playing hard, as such I love a drink on a night out as much as anyone else (if not more so) and I'm open to almost almost anything.... with the exception of certain commercial chains/areas that rely on attracting the very worst people that the UK has to offer.

I don't want to sound snobby, but I literally refuse to associate myself with these places, mainly for the reasons you posted above. The youth drinking culture today, from my perspective, is certainly more worrying than it was a few years ago.... but at least back then, we had some class.

Anyway, I'm currently slightly drunk and posting this from a Revolution vodka bar in Manchester.... one of the only 'commercial' chains I enjoy.

Heads up, shots down.

Revolution is on the borderline for me, if only because they're pretty expensive so the clientele tends to be slightly more reputable than what you get in a Wetherspoons or Yates. Basically though, any bar which features a black guy in the men's toilets trying to charge you £1 for some aftershave whilst singing about "no splash, no gash" can safely be nuked from orbit, as far as I'm concerned.

What really ing annoys me is that so often when I go out with friends I'll say "let's go to some bars", with the intention of going to a few decent places and mingling with some people I'd actually like to have a conversation with, but the lowest-common-denominator factor invariably leads us to some ty chain bar rubbing shoulders with tight-shirted, broad-backed northern cunts "out on the pull" and stroppy, spray-tanned slappers dancing to Avicii.

i hate places that do bottle service. Not only is it tacky, but like you get these idiots that think they own the nightclub because they get a seat and a bucket of ice and you get all their ing friends, and its like ing tribes inside a nightclub. Huge groups of amassed people in obvious groups acting like they will eventually demark their zone with pee. the only bottles that should ever be served are champagne. Unless there is a sporting event. If you want to be the man, hire a your own waitress for the night, much less tacky than a bucket of ice with a bottle of greygoose .

And if you aare going to have a bathroom attendant, something clubs do to appear posh, using minorities that are obviously from the lower income bracket doesn't really get that point across. If anything, it is embarrassing for the club. Like the clubs that always have black bouncers and only black bouncers. What do you mean racist ? all and i mean all our bouncers are black. I mean if they were at the bar, next thing you know they will bust out the crack pipes and then will hit the fan.
