wat? Boosting one's wifi or something?

don' wanna know how to either way

No, encrypted tor data looks like any other encrypted data from any other source. Tor is just a specific routing network. Its not tor is adding anything unique to the header of a packet, beyond an IP address that just happens to be another tor node. Tor doesn't change any other layers of the OSI model either. Its just an incredibly obfuscated routing network that adds in layers of plausible deniability by making traffic that might be bound for you appear to be traffic bound anywhere else.

But yea, Tor does not encrypt things by default. You can poison the exit nodes and you can "corner" people and do traffic analysis of even encrypted traffic if you expect them to be a tor user. This does take a lot of work though and a lot of resources, but I'd imagine that a number of very fast nodes on most Tor nets are monitoring nodes used by governments and law enforcement.
dj_alfi
There are no fast nodes on the TOR network.
And stop ing counter-argue I havent said.

Tor data can easily be identified, not by the packet header, but rather by the pattern they send packets on, and the fact that it's exclusively TCP. Also -load of other telltale's..

i really enjoyed Underground by Suelette Dreyfus. that's about all i know about hacking. my favourite part was the hacker that used to phreak (sp?) phone lines, and would call this one random dude in the US and demand his shovel back. did it for years. brilliant.

How am I counter arguing you haven't said? You said tor date is easily identifiable, I said it is not.

Are you mentally retarded or something alfi? You say the most random ass . Still trying to figure out wtf you were on about in that PM you sent me like 3 months ago about copying something or someone... :conf:

Oh and a ton of stuff is primarily TCP. All web browsing is done via TCP, IMAP/POP/SMTP are all TCP... The only things that are really not TCP are control packets and UDP for streaming and games.
dj_alfi
You said it was easily identifiable because it wasn't encrypted and wrote two paragraphs about it. I never said it was easily identifiable because it wasn't encrypted. I just said it was easily identifiable. Get it?

Read this, then off.

You're an idiot and can't even follow the conversation properly. You originally said they'd go after people using tor because only bad stuff happens on tor and if its unencrypted then they can see the bad stuff.

I said that if it was encrypted they couldn't tell because it blends in with all other encrypted traffic, there is nothing that can tell apart encrypted data from an HTTPS login to gmail and a SSH tunnel used to do something on Tor.

So quit being a troll cause it just makes you look ing retarded, well more retarded than you already appear to be, and seriously wtf were you talking about in that PM? You said I stole credit for something? I have no ing clue what you were on about.

Ofc you didn't.

And that's not what we were talking about, but just like every other thread you come to shine in with your expertise, yuo've created your own little deingrailed discussion.

off baldy, im starting to get why jay just post 3 worded off's to you.

Read the link, nothing about feeling out encrypted data, and most of the attacks not involving a local compromise demand the attack be vectored against a router/exit node, not a pure client node, which most users of Tor are.

As long as they haven't tagged you as a Tor client already, any encrypted traffic you are sending is going to appear to just be any other encrypted traffic. If they are monitoring all nodes and your self then yea they can make a reasonable assumption that you are probably sending data on a Tor network chain, but it'd just be an assumption with no real proof to back it up.

Once encrypted data has reached the first router node, and its encrypted, the data is a lot harder to track after that and you will never know where it is going in the first place unless you can watch every single node in the chain from end to end and back around again.
