Of course I'm gonna say PVD, I can't describe how his music makes me feel and I've never got that from another DJ.
BUT respect to Oakey coz I don't know if anyone else saw this (or knows his anyway) but there was a story of house music thing on Channel 4 (sorry all non-U.K peeps) called "Pump up the Volume" and it told you how/where it all began as far as the electronic dance music scene is concerned. I know the whole house thing began in he U.S (Detroit I think (?)) Anywayz, according to this program Oakey was responsible for it all kicking off here in the UK after a messy summer (with a BAD haircut. LOL at Oakeys long hair!) in Ibiza with a certain Mr.Rampling. They wanted to recreate the *vibe* they'd had over there in the U.K so did a set up in some old gym or something and got a following and thats how we ended up with a cool scene over here.
Apologies if I've got loadsa bits missed out or wrong I'm just goin on what I can remember, but I remember thinking Oakey did THAT?! When I've seen Oakey, he always seems to play really deep sort of sets, that you need to get into to enjoy the journey of it (I know that sounds cliche but I think thats what he does.) In some ways, dare I say it, I think he may go even deeper than PVD, in that some people may find PVDs sets easier to get on with coz you don't have to get involved in the same way to enjoy it. Thats not to say that I believe Oakeys better, he's just good in a different way. PVDs sets get me very emotional too and get me so excited I feel like I'm gonna explode when he drops certain tunes in his sets. Thats something only PVD can do to me, even if I've never heard those tunes before.
Oakey may think he's done as he can in respect to what he used to do, which is why he may be changing...
But I still prefer PVD! *worship* :happy2: |

PvD and Oakey are both brilliant in my opinion, and they are both in my list of top five djs ever. However, I believe Oakey is better than PvD simply because of the variety of his sets. Oakenfold plays a myriad of styles. I admit that I don't like some of these styles, but I admire Oakey for being so eclectic. PvD on the other hand generally stays with the same style most of the time. Of course, PvD is a fantastic dj and I love his sets! But a little variety every now and then would be nice...

| Oakenfold because he is coming back with brilliant sets like the old days, Obviously he aint going to start playing sets that had the same Energy as his 1999 sets because thats impossible, but he is better at the moment (Creamfields 2002, Global Gathering 2002) |

Hard one . . . . since trance back in oakies day was different than trance now with PVD.
But i gotta stick with Oakie. His tranceport cd and his recording of 2 years @ creams ownz all the cds i have. |

PvD supporter here...Oakenfold might be more eclectic, but a lot of the stuff that he plays isn't to my taste.
I have yet to be disappointed with a set by PvD, and he also gets addtional points for being one of the great producers in the genre as well. Not to say that Oakey hasn't put out some quality tunes over the years, but PvD's stuff is beyond epic...My World, For an Angel, and their ilk will never get old and are classics of the genre.
And the final point, PvD is just ten times better looking than Oakey too...I mean christ, look at the early 90's...Oakenfold was sporting a *mullet*, that's at least a 50 point deduction right there ;) |

Smarten up people. We aren't judging whos a better mixer/producer at the moment, but throughout their whole career, and with that said Oakenfold > PVD, no questions asked - hands down. Oakie is a legend, you can't compete with him.

I cant wait for the next CD by sasha and digweed. I dont know if there is going to be one, but hopefully there is. Communicate and northern exposures kicked ass.
one thing to add. PVD's tracks are easily identifyable cause they use the same beats and highs, omg use a different bass kick of goodness sake.
