You don't necessarily have to use those the extra osc tho

ti guess my summation would be that the synth is adequate, and its popularity has to do with all the presets, and not much else.

This is one of the times when you are wrong. It was popular way before it was preset saturated.

It's a one trick pony that does that trick better than most other synths.

Deal with it :p

The first incarnation was loaded with dance presets. This wasd not that common. Same reason why vanguard was used before it. It was aimed at edm.
tehlord
Well yeah.

But vanguard, there's a nasty sounding synth.

Bu that is relative. Sylenth sounds ty to me. Im giving reasons for it being poopular as the quality of the synth certianly does not make a compelling case.

Well as you said it's all subjective.

I still don't really dig the sound of Zebra and it's filters but I still bought it.

For the record, they've just taken on the dude that created Magix Vandal so I'm hoping for some dirt out of that thing in the future. Apparently it's going to be taking some of Diva's filter tech as well.

vstation came out way before and sounded way better. More verstaile, killer distortion on it, and ya, just one of those great software synths that nobody really got into because the presets sucked.

v-station was horribly cracked. unstable as a mother****** on bath salts. or so i've heard.

it sounded really nice though. it's a bit crispier than sylenth imo, just a hint more of virus kinda. there were some really nice presets posted on here for it back 03 or something along that line. i guess it also got overshadowed by alot of the NI stuff that was being pumped out that time.

I prefer Vstation as well, Sylenth is highly overrated

Presets are extremely important...as far as first impressions go and pure usability. The idea that initial presets should show off the capabilities of the synth is kind of dumb especially if they are off the wall.

Looney4Clooney
presets are important for amateurs and marketing departments.

And my GAS/mortgage payments. Don't forget that.
