Hi all, upped this track recently, been working on it sporadically over the last few weeks and I'm about done with it. I guess I'd lump it in with the prog. house genre although I wouldn't say it's proper progressive, anyway it's there for free download and I'm just hoping I can get some more thoughts from some of you folks here and that you might like it, but I'm open to any kind of feedback.

Got some nice stuff going on in there. Good rhythms and stuff.
Could maybe do with bringing the kick out a little mpore after the main drop. The other sounds swallow it up a bit. possibly reduce the reverb a touch on some of the sounds. |

| I think you could lose that lute sound and the song would be much better. At first impression, the mix seemed high heavy. |

| Thanks for taking the time to listen and respond guys. I've taken note of your crticism for future. Not sure which sound you're referring to as a lute dinyab, there are a few plucked string sounds in there and I'm a bit on the fence with some of the sounds after the main drop. But if it's the sound I think you mean then I think we'll agree to disagree. |

I'm getting some neat synth ideas here, and feel you have some excellent skills synth wise. The beat needs more grind to get it dancey imho!

Thanks for the feedback Richard, I know I've tried putting in more effort regarding the layering of the synths with this than I have previously, I do think it shows too.
I'm curious as to what you mean with the beats where you say "grind". I'd really like to improve wherever I can and would really appreciate any pointers you might be able to offer, as I think you're drums/percs. are definitely one of your strengths with production imo.
cheers - Grant |

Hey Grant,
well it depends where you see this track in terms of a set. As is, it could fit into the early warm - up area with these percs, as they sort of tickle and tease rather than stamp authority.
Keep up the good work

Thanks Richard, I did have it in mind as a warm-up kind of track initially but I'm also kind of experimenting at the moment with some ideas on drums and percussion processing on a new track to get more of a punchy and driving vibe, as I've done quite a few tunes recently that have been more aimed at warming up.
As for my alias, it's kind of an ambiguous double meaning, I grew-up in a small place called Teesdale, didn't have many friends at the time so felt a bit alienated and a friend later gave me that name.
It's a bit silly and I've thought of leaving that name behind a bit recently. I more often get called G now. |

| The only thing keeping me from downloading this is that the mix feels very brittle, having a little too much high-end and perhaps, not enough low. Other than the EQ issues, I'm really enjoying listening to it. Very original and well constructed. |

Cheers Eddie, appreciate that. I think I'll have another shot at the mixdown to address the EQ issues, they are pretty noticable and I'd like to include this tune in my next podcast episode and have it sound as good as it can.
I'm still trying to decide on weather to invest next in a computer upgrade which I also sorely need, or some decent monitors.... :conf: |

Tough choice. I've got new monitors (that I heard your song with) and headphones and am really happy with the result. All that cost me around $750US, so I know it can set you back.
I also wound up downloading and looking at a spectrum analysis of your tune. It has a lot of high frequency content most songs don't. Could explain why your mix sounds so brittle. If you want, I can take a screen-cap of that and a tune (by another TA, no less) that I'm using to benchmark. |
