exactly, one of Ibizas reasons for success is the fact there are minimal club and door politics to the general population. Vegas could become the new 24/7 365 replacement but people do not want to chance not being able to get in.
I'm not saying I want to walk in to a nightclub in Vegas in flip flops and shorts but if I want to walk in in a $200 pair of jeans, an $90 t-shirt and dark full black tennis shoes while clean shaven, then I expect to get in.
Unfortunately my experience with Vegas nightclubs is they do not understand how to distinguish between an Artist guestlist and their BS guest list and as a single guy you have to show up at 9pm in dress shoes and a button up to ensure you get in, only to endure hip hop, then mashups, then the headliner. NOT FOR ME. No where else in the world have I ever had trouble getting in the door. Not in Europe, not in Miami, not in NYC, not in Los Angeles
oh wait, one more thing, I could have gone and picked up 3 women from a bar to get in as well, as told to me by the bouncer who told me the artist guestlist wasn't enough for me to get in. |

| This really didn't hurt anyone except the ~5 people who were actually at Marquee to see Farina. Everyone else did just fine. Farina got paid, the douchebros got their pop garbage, and we all re-learned a valuable lesson: mainstream/bottle service clubs are ty places for anything except ogling chicks and bro-ing out. |

| Vegas is well known for being douche-land, not known for genuine arts are respected. It is all about the mass, crowd, and consumerism. |

1)buy pre-sale
2) if on artist guestlist, walk in with artist and dont deal with the music you mentioned.

if you are paying $200 for jeans and $90 for a shirt, you can buy a $30 presale ticket.

marquee requirement is 1:1 ratio, so TECHNICALLY going to the bar and trying to have 3 women walk in with you would be 3:1 ratio, which is not the 1:1 requirement. can't have too many girls in there you know. |

in all honesty, i was VERY surprised when i saw the OM crew booked at marquee. miguel is cool and all but he's an sf local headliner. no one's going to take him seriously in vegas, kinda like the sf local opener max vajelly. just because you get regular bookings in sf does not equate with success in vegas.
you need a huge following or to play the music of someone with a huge following. no one is going gaga over drek martinez headlining marquee later that night, but he did...why, he played the music that the usual marquee headliners would.
and later this month the stafford brothers and tydi are playing...those guys havent drawn since kindergarten! but they will play the music that will lead to them getting booked again.
My advice go find out what the eye candy twins are doing, they get booked ALL THE TIME! guess that's what happens when you BRING BACK HOUSE MUSIC TO THE USA!!!!! |

Agreed, but that wasn't my point. If a club which professes to present the finest proponents of house music, then caves to the whims of its spoilt, entitled, clueless clientele as to what gets played, it sets a dangerous precedent.
Do these people go to a Circque du Soleil show and then tell the performers to "cut out all that acrobatic ?" Of course not. If you go to a club advertising a house DJ and then throw a fit coz you're not hearing enough top 40 tunes, that's your fault for being uneducated, not the club's.
Can you imagine what would happen if someone tried to get Carl Cox, Pete Tong, Diggers, PvD or Erick Morillo kicked off the decks in Ibiza?
Oh… and Mark Farina? He may not get booked in Ibiza, but he makes way more money than most US DJs on the scene today. That guy is always working. |

Yeh because everyone on an artist guest list walks in with the Artist. This particular one I have walked in with before but I dont like all the cameras around me and ending up in Music videos while walking in to the club. Presale does not always work for marquee.

If I have a standing offer for an artist guestlist then it is my right to use it and the clubs obligation to accept it. I should not be forced to buy a presale. Besides I usually like the backstage access it comes with. The problem occurs only in Vegas and no where else.
